As a New Yorker, you would expect that I cringe at the mere suggestion of frozen pizza. However, as a New Yorker who lives in the frozen tundra of the mountains where a foot and a half or so of snow and a job that doesn’t require leaving home turns me into a hermit for much of the winter, I can recognize that frozen pizza is a different category of thing from pizza and it can be enjoyed for what it is. Even bad pizza is kinda good. And so I thought it was worth sharing a deal you can currently get at Walgreens. By stacking a coupon code, category bonus, and potentially a card-linked offer, you can come out with 10 pizzas for about a net twenty-one bucks after rewards, which is a price at which I’ll suffer through frozen pizza a few times this winter.

The Deal

  • Get 10 frozen DiGiorno pizzas for $28.46 at Walgreen’s with free store pick-up (shipping not available) after their Buy One, Get One sale and promo code SPOTIFY. Potentially stack rewards for a net ~$21 cost. See more detail below.

Key Terms

  • Available for store pick up only

Quick Thoughts

There are a few levels to this stack:

  1. Make sure you are signed up for Walgreen’s rewards and log into your account
  2. Go to this page. Search for a coupon to clip that gives you $5 in rewards when you spend $20 or more. It looks like this:
    a screenshot of a card
  3. Go to the shopping portal of your choice and click through to Walgreen’s. Many portals exclude grocery purchases, so YMMV on whether or not this works. You could also try card-linked offers. I tried a card linked with Dosh hoping to get 2% back, but no notification yet.
  4. Go to this page to find the pizza you want and add it to your cart. These pizzas are buy one, get one free. You can mix-and-match any 10. Add them to your cart.
  5. Apply coupon code SPOTIFY in your cart.
  6. Use a card that earns a strong bonus category at pharmacies. This quarter, that would mean a Discover IT card or ABOC Platinum Rewards card for 5% back. Alternatively, use a Chase Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex for 3x. The Cash app card has sometimes offered 15% back on Walgreen’s purchases, but I don’t see any current boosts for Walgreen’s in my account.

In the end, your total could look something like this:

  • $28.46
  • -$1.42 (5% back via credit card)
  • -$5.34 (Walgreen’s rewards)
  • -$0.57 (if you get a portal / card-linked offer to track at 2%)
  • Total cost (assuming you value Walgreen’s rewards like cash) = $21.13 for 10 DiGiorno pizzas

While not the most earth-shattering stack ever, that’s certainly not a bad deal if you’re up for cheap pizza. I wouldn’t ordinarily value Walgreens rewards at full face value, but ironically in such small quantity like this I do value them close to cash. That’s because I live in a small town where there is a single grocery store and a single pharmacy (Walgreen’s), so I end up going to Walgreens for silly little stuff all the time since they are sort of the only game in town. I’ll easily use up that $5 on something that I would have otherwise bought anyway.

Note that you can select whether or not you want to authorize substitutions if they don’t have the quantity you’ve ordered. I intentionally did not select that this time. I did this deal once before and they didn’t have half of my pizza choices, but I still got the ~$2.84 per pizza price and the $5 in rewards despite not having spent enough for either (as my total was less than $15). The store simply adjusted the total down and it took off the coupon-and-promo-adjusted price of each of the pizzas they did not have. On today’s order, the store called to tell me that they were one cheese pizza short of my order total, and the email I received indicated that the price was adjusted by the ~$3 price of one pizza. My order didn’t lose the discount from the BOGO promotion despite having a quantity of 9 pizzas to pick up.

The SPOTIFY code didn’t work for me but QUICK15 for 15% did.

Worth doing only if they make Za with anchovies.

[…] Cheap pizza: Walgreens promo code + rewards to get 10 for ~$21 by FM. Hey, it’s cheap but nobody said it was good. […]

While I haven’t had one in a while, bad and cheap frozen pizzas are the Tortino ones. They were generally $1 and once in a while, usually late night after I got home, I would eat one.

Digiodino’s/Red Baron pizzas are certainly a step or two up from those pizzas 🙂

chris

i don’t see the $5 rewards coupon, anyone else have this issue?

chris

i ordered anyway without the $5 rewards but i guess they didn’t have the type i wanted and the order got canceled. i tried to re-order different types but now the spotify coupon is not working. says must be logged in to redeem, which i am so not sure what the issue is. guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Ordered, went to the store to pick up and they had the pizzas in a bag, but the worker said the order wasn’t right so he cancelled the order right in front of me!!

I get the feeling Greg is going to roast this post..

Jeff

Any deals on freezers lol Guess most people on here probably got an extra in the garage. Box dimensions and compressibility factor needed 😉

Brant

It’s probably just me, but I think this post is a little cheesy.
