Quick Thoughts
There are a number of different offers floating around. For example, our own Stephen Pepper sent me this offer that his wife received:
As shown in the picture, her offer is to receive 2,000 bonus SPG points after her first stay, 2,500 bonus points after her second stay, and 3,000 bonus points after her third stay for a total of 7,500 bonus points after just three stays. That looks like a great offer to me — especially if she happens to have a use for a few inexpensive SPG stays (considering their 5-year 50-state road trip, that’s a good bet!). That bonus would be enough for me to seek out a couple of SPG stays.
Unfortunately, my offer was not so generous:
I like extra points as much as anyone else, but double points only on stays of 2+ nights won’t steal any of my business away from competitors. I do wonder if it might stack with Starwood’s first quarter promotion, which would make it more interesting but still not really exciting for me.
My wife received no offer at all — so not everyone will get something with promo.
Bottom line
It only takes a few seconds to click through and enter your SPG number to see if you have an offer — you might just get lucky and get a valuable bonus. If you receive a different offer, let us know what you receive in the comments.
Shoot, I got nuthin’ 🙁
[…] Targeted SPG Bonus Offers: Starpoints are widely considered some of the most valuable points around due to the number of airline transfer partners, and the low number of points required for hotel stays. The bad thing about them is that they’re difficult to earn, so when there are promotions available, take advantage of them to boost your earning power. […]
My offer was way, way less generous than yours. In fact, generous can’t be applied.
Neither myself who stayed 50vnights last year but has not made a booking this year, nor my wife who has not made a booking in a couple of years have been targeted. Who are their targets?
“Who are their targets?” Agreed. Looks like Starwood doesn’t need my business and still insists I keep ALL my stays with IHG and Hilton!
I received the offer to earn no extra points but will receive double qualifying stays and nights. So no extra points instantly, but my chance to make 75 nights this year increases and thereafter I will receive more points per stay for at least a whole year (4 Points per $ spent instead of 3)…
