Citi has had its own shopping portal called Citi Shop for a little while now. Coming up in a couple of weeks it’ll be offering 20% cashback at a selection of retailers which will include Best Buy, eBay, Sephora, StubHub and more.
The Deal
- Earn 20% cashback from the Citi Shop portal at select retailers on Citi Shop Day.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Offer valid August 5-6, 2025.
Quick Thoughts
I’ve been vaguely aware of the Citi Shop shopping portal for a little while, but I’ve never paid much attention to it. Earning 20% back at the following retailers from August 5-6 is a great deal though:
- Kohl’s
- Best Buy
- StubHub
- Lowe’s
- Macy’s
- Sephora
- Bloomingdale’s
- Petco
- Nike
- Anthropologie
- eBay
- L.L. Bean
- Shark
- Bed Bath & Beyond
- Le Creuset
- Ulta Beauty
What’s not clear at the moment is if all purchases from those retailers will earn 20% back, or if it’ll only be certain categories. For example, Best Buy normally has something like a dozen different categories such as TV, audio, cameras, etc. Hopefully 20% will be the rate on everything, but be sure to verify the rate before making a purchase in case it varies and a different portal offers a better rate for the product(s) you plan to buy.
Citi Shop is a browser extension that’s available on Chrome, Edge, Safari, and through Safari on iOS; it’s not available on Android right now. You select a credit card on which to earn the cashback which gets applied as a statement credit. If you select a card that earns ThankYou points, you’ll still only get statement credits – it sadly doesn’t get credited as bonus ThankYou points instead in the way that Capital One Offers (not Capital One Shopping) awards bonus Capital One miles.
The cashback you earn doesn’t count towards your minimum payment, so you still have to at least make the minimum payment each month, although you should obviously be paying off your credit card in full each month.
The good thing is that you don’t have to pay with the enrolled Citi card. In fact, it doesn’t look like you have to pay with a Citi card at all. That could be particularly useful if you have an Amex Offer, Chase Offer, etc. for one of the participating retailers as you can then save money with that card linked offer while also earning 20% back from Citi.
I installed the browser extension today to check it out. When visiting a retailer, it’s not hard to miss the popup it displays which I imagine could get a little obnoxious due to quite how prominent it is.
If it does get too much for you, you can click the ellipses menu button and request that it doesn’t display alerts for that particular retailer anymore.
The Citi Shop browser extension doesn’t appear to conflict with other browser extensions you might have installed. When doing a dummy purchase on Best Buy’s website, the Capital One Shopping popup still appeared like normal. Interestingly, the Citi Shop popup only appeared for me when initially visiting the home page and then the next page I clicked on after that. It didn’t end up being displayed during the checkout process whereas Capital One Shopping did which I was surprised about, as I would’ve thought Citi Shop would popup when there’s a clear purchase intent.
Note that this promotion will be taking place on August 5 and 6, so we’ll republish this post in a fortnight as a reminder once it’s live.
