In a recent blog post, I shared a report that the Citi Prestige card would offer American Airlines Admirals Club access.  At the time, I couldn’t confirm this, but I posited that it made sense.  I wrote:

Now that the Amex Platinum cards are losing access to AA and US Airways clubs, the Prestige card may have a chance to compete by adding benefits such as AA club access.

Yesterday, the rumor was confirmed when a reader sent me a link to this AA website listing Admirals Club locations.  If you click to see the Guest Access Information, you should see the following:

a information form with text and images

The table shows: Citi Prestige Card holder, Number of Guests = 2 Guests or immediate family.

And, in fine print at the bottom, it says:

Citi Prestige Card holder must present a stand-by ticket or boarding pass (other than a non-revenue ticket or boarding pass for airline employee travel), showing an American, American Eagle Airlines, Inc., or an American Connection carrier flight number, valid for travel on such flight and departing within 12 hours of the Admirals Club visit (or, in the case of a visit at an arrival airport, with respect to such a flight that arrived no more than 12 hours prior to the visit.)

Even though the Prestige card is expensive ($450 per year), it’s great to see that Citi is stepping up its benefits.  Between this, enhanced point value for AA tickets, and other standard benefits, this card has just become quite interesting.  I’ll be surprised if we don’t also see good signup offers for this card soon.
