Terms and Conditions

  • Valid 11/30-12/2/24

Quick Thoughts

This is a great price for Uber gift cards, both for personal use or for resale. It’s most likely available in-store as well. Remember that you’ll also earn an additional 2% back if you’re a Costco Executive member.

Used the Costco purchased Uber eats gift card to buy merchandise from Costco on UberEats and stacked with an Uber eats coupon for 20% off Costco. Cross checking the prices on Costco website looked fine to me and even with the tip and delivery fee it worked out Costco at about 30% discount

Joe

I think you should warn people of all the accounts of rides paid for with money from gift cards costing a lot more than otherwise. It happened to me several times. Then, when I change payment method to credit card, the cost goes down a lot.

LaurainA2

Gift cards don’t work on rides in other countries, right?

D patterson

correct

Whitney

I can confirm this is available in store as well, bought some yesterday

Mike klem

Can they be used with amex 15 dollar credit

GoldenPilot

Starting early November the app told me I would need to put the remaining charges on Amex card to get the $15 credit so I doubt it will work.

Maria

Was exited to see the deal on Costco untill I read the reviews. If you read the reviews on Costco website all the main complaints, at least the past several months is that once gc are added to uber app uber is charging customers up to extra 20% on same rides that others get for less. Uber either knows the gift cards were purchased at a discount or they think since you already have a gc you will be spending the money no matter the price for the ride. So it’s nothing but a scam by Uber. Be aware!!!

Josh

I have a bunch of these in my account and I have been getting many more discounts offers than previously- so I don’t think their IT is terrible good

Maria

Could be no evil, just bad programming at Uber, who knows But I wouldn’t want to be pre-purchading uber credit for may be getting a discount or may be being overcharged
We just got a free 2 year premium subscription with Lift through chase sapphire reserve, so I guess we’ll just be doing a lot more lift rides.

patty

I have a hard time believing this is true. Also, couldn’t you just request the ride and add the gift card after? My rides are usually to the airport so that would use up the entire gift card amount.

Maria

If it was one review, I’d think a person could be mistaken. If over the past couple of months several people say the same thing is happening to them I have no reason to doubt. If you think you won’t expirience that, go ahead and buy the cards. Please update us how that works out for you so we know for the future. I am certainly not planing on playing those games with Uber. The only way to know for sure though is to have another person in your house request same ride and see if their price is different because they don’t have gift cards added to payment.
Also read the fine print on gc use. One thing for sure someone said they are not applicable to scheduled rides.
Our airport rides could be as low as $45 and as hight as $100 depending on a lot of factors, so there is certainly no way for me to know if uber is adjusting my rate.

patty

Thanks Maria, I’ll give it a try and report back. I usually do check the prices on both my account and my husband’s because I do find that the price varies.

scammed

It’s not a mistake. It’s intentional. You have to use the credit for Uber Eats to get the same prices. There’s definitely an FTC complaint in this scam, and Lyft does it too.

Kadels

So use it on Uber Eats?

I didn’t use my $15 Amex credit this month because for the 1 ride I had, Lyft was $20 less expensive. I only use Uber if the difference is less than $15.

After reading this post at LAX, I compared prices on my phone with gift card preloaded with my friend without any GC’s. Same price to DTLA. Just one data
point…
