Update: This one is dead. I just got a call and the following email from Priceline — looks like they don’t intend to honor it.

Dear NICHOLAS REYES,

Airline system issue

This can’t possibly last and is unlikely to even stick, but I just booked two of us round trip from Dallas to Melbourne, Australia for $152 each. The Flight Deal reports availability through next May.

Find cheap dates at Google Flights (where they are showing as low as $281 and then book through Priceline for the deepest discount. This fare is available through next May on select dates. The Flight Deal reports it requires a 7-day minimum stay and Monday through Thursday departures in either direction.

Hold off on making plans

I wouldn’t make any nonrefundable plans for at least a few weeks to make sure this gets honored.

Bottom line

Run, don’t walk. Go in with low expectations and be pleasantly surprised if everything works out as planned. This would be an amazing deal if it sticks. You’ll have through 11:59pm ET tomorrow night to cancel through Priceline, so book now and think about it later. See You’ve gotta see this! Melbourne and Sydney if you need any more encouragement than $152 RT already provides.

For whoever cares (Nick maybe you should do an Update)

If you booked through Virgin’s own website and you were ticketed they WILL honor it. I was combing through their tweet replies and they answered some people saying that they cannot honor tickets that were bought through 3rd parties and not ticketed.

So congrats to those of us who booked through Virgin directly!!

Gerhardt

Would you think there is any reason to try to get Priceline to honor this fare? Social Media perhaps?

Jon

booked thru Chase UR. Still going strong on the VA website.

Tom

No call. No deflecting email. Just canceled like it never happened. Classy PL. Classy.

Anon

Dead. Some OTAs are still showing $295, but all appear to be repricing prior to checkout now.

Denise

Gone as of 9:25pm EST. 🙁 Lowest showing in April or May is $982

Pam

Seems to only price out at $153 buying 2 tiix. When go to purchase, tho, it says has increased to $1.170!

Christine

Me too. 🙁 I’d book in a heartbeat for $300 if anyone could find options, but it seems to have ended.

JohnnieD

Just got May 15-22 for $152.76! The actual fare is showing as $30 with $122.76 in fees. Yikes!

From where? can’t see anything below $700 to syd or BNE

Hi, how do you get Priceline “deepest discount”? I see these prices on Google flights, but when i search for the same date on Priceline, gives me the same price (actually by $3 more). Thanks

voyager

I decided to pay $300 per person anyway, but when I clicked “purchase”, the pop window said “the price for this flight has increased to $2k per person”. So i guess that closed it already. Still curious though about “Priceline deepest discount”. How do you get those? I signed in and all that, but still wouldn’t get rate lower than Google Flights.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Pending. Fingers crossed
