Cue up the funeral march: Dan’s Deals reports that Dell.com is discontinuing the sale of many third-party peripherals. Things like Bose headphones, Google Pixel Buds, Logitech mice, and most Pixel Watches are now gone from Dell.com and will not be returning. That’s a huge bummer for those of us who have become accustomed to buying those things from Dell to use up semi-annual Dell credits.
Dan’s Deals reports having reached out to Dell after a reader tipped them off that Dell was no longer selling Bose headphones or earbuds. We’ve sometimes seen things like that go in and out of stock over time, but Dell confirmed to Dan’s Deals that they have discontinued the sale of a number of third-party peripherals with the following statement:
Over the past three years, we invested extensively in building our Client Peripherals. As a result, throughout the summer we discontinued a number of third-party peripherals sold on Dell.com. We will continue to sell third-party products in complementary categories that align closely to our business.
Dan reports that Bose speakers will still be sold through Dell, but headphones and earbuds are already gone. Gone too are Google Pixel Buds and Logitech mice (I have a box at home with several sets of Pixel Buds Series A and a few Logitech Performance MX mice as I like both products and wanted backups for when I inevitably break or lose one in transit. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to restock those in the future.
I’m guessing that quite a few third-party items that are still on the website are living on borrowed time. If you’re sitting on Dell credits to use and you had anticipated using them on non-Dell products, you might want to consider placing an order sooner rather than later. I’m about to order some Nintendo Switch games that I’d anticipated buying closer to the holidays — while the prices aren’t great and those items may stick around on Dell, I’d rather use up some credits now on something I know I’m going to buy than be stuck with an even more limited selection in a few months’ time.
oye! what can we buy now?! I suppose its time to DG or cancel the Plat Biz… I think I will add P2 to my personal plat…
At the risk of increasing my competition for getting them, Hue products are still there. I suppose this is likely to only be a problem for another 4½ months though.
Now that sucks. I just passed the cutoff to cancel my Biz platinum and get a refund.
That is the final straw. The remaining value is nowhere close to $695, so I will definitely cancel at the anniversary.
Making it too hard to use the AmEx Dell credits. Mine also renewed and I did not pay attention to Dell making this drastic change. I was always happy to purchase BOSE items they were nice gifts to give away. This is horrible.
Super odd, but Dell just sent us a Bose headphone about 2 months after ordering. It just arrived maybe 10 days ago. I had totally forgotten about it until P2 asked, “Why did you order another headphone?” lol
Just got Dell Inspiron 1500 x 2 clearance laptops for only $600 to use up three credits with AA 10X. Dell Inspiron 1500 (3520). May still be a few left.
Wow, what timing. I was just targeted and approved for 250k Biz Plat this morning. DOH!
yup..noticed a week ago – no more Thule backpacks.
But still found things of use to buy. Some Dell, some Sony.
Was just talking about getting some new Pixel Buds or Bose headphones for P2 with current Dell credits and stacking offers – poor timing.
It’s been this way on Dell.ca for some time. I predict Dell.com will soon be useless for anything but laptops and tablets.
This is devastating. Thanks for the heads up. Reselling Bose earbuds was my go to with my 3 Biz Plats.
That Dell statement credit ends on 12/31. Replacement credits, if any, have yet to be announced.
Probably just as well, considering the Dell credits end this year (right?).
From what I understand, that’s just when their current agreement ends but Amex said that the credits might continue.
Well. It was going to be Pixel buds when the new ones came in stock. Guess not.
