Thrifty Traveler Premium sent out an alert today advising of a new Delta award sale that gives you the opportunity to book award flights to the UK and Spain from only 32,000 SkyMiles round trip.
The Deal
- Book round trip flights on Delta from the US to the UK and Spain from 32,000 SkyMiles round trip + taxes & fees.
Key Terms
- Award sale pricing available October 2022 to January 2023 (dates vary depending on city pairings)
Quick Thoughts
There’s never any knowing how long these kinds of Delta award sales will last, so it could be worth booking ASAP if you’re interested, especially because these Main Cabin tickets can be changed with no change fees or cancelled with a refund of the taxes and fees and the miles credited back to your account.
One of the nice things about this award sale is that it’s valid from all over the US rather than only the east coast. For example, you can fly from Portland, OR to London for 32,000 SkyMiles round trip with taxes and fees of $216. Note that this route isn’t nonstop as Delta doesn’t fly direct from Portland to the UK or Spain.
If you’d like to fly nonstop to the UK from the west coast, that can also be done for 32,000 SkyMiles round trip by flying out of Seattle. For example, you could fly to the UK on November 21 among other dates in case you’d like to get away over Thanksgiving.
If you’d rather pay less in taxes and fees, that can be done by flying to Spain instead seeing as they don’t charge the hefty Air Passenger Duty that the UK does. Flying from Chicago to Barcelona has taxes and fees from only $52, so you’d be saving more than $150 per person versus flying to the UK.
There’s excellent availability overall for this award sale. For example, here’s availability from Seattle to London for eight people over some of the holiday period. The 32,000 SkyMiles pricing includes the nonstop route between these two cities, so it’s not like you’d all be forced to fly via another city in the US.
I checked pricing for a couple of other European cities not in the UK and Spain and didn’t see pricing this low. However, if there’s a different European city you’re interested in visiting it’d be worth taking a look in case this 32,000 SkyMiles pricing is available to other countries too.
[…] Delta Award Sale: Every once in a while there’s a good use for SkyPesos, and it’s usually when Delta has an award sale. Currently you can book roundtrip flights from the US to the UK and Spain for as low as 32K SkyMiles. This is a great deal! […]
Looks like upgrading to comfort from main (HNL-LHR) is only 19K more miles on top of the 32K, however the ticket becomes “changeable/nonrefundable”. I’m uncertain if I can travel the dates selected since it’s so far out – do you have any advice on protection? Should I purchase the $28 insurance? Would I be able to cancel for any reason and get all the miles and $$ back? Thanks.
i’m curious to know too. any experts in here know anything about getting refunded on unrefundable flights?
Any chance there are deals in biz as well? (signed, “too old and tall to sit in coach for 7+ hours.”)
Not based on the pricing I saw I’m afraid
Thanks for checking!!
