If you were to spend precisely $50 five times, a $15 bonus on that spend represents a 6% return. That’s good, but it gets even better if you also happen to spend $50 each time at one of this quarter’s 5% categories:

• Gas Stations & EV Charging
• Public Transit
• Utilities

I’m sure many people won’t have a problem spending $50 at gas stations five times before the end of September. Some utility companies might allow multiple partial payments for an existing bill or prepayment towards future bills. If you regularly take your city’s public transportation, perhaps you can prefund your travel card with $50 five times over the course of the next couple of months.

Registration is required for this promotion, so check your emails to see if you’ve been targeted. My wife and I both received emails with the same subject line: ‘Congrats [name], you earned an extra Cashback Bonus offer’, although Discover might also use different subject lines.
