DoorDash DashPass members can save 10%-20% on Lyft rides (normally 5%-10%)

DoorDash has increased the discount that DashPass members get on Lyft rides. The discount is usually 5%-10%, but through July 30, 2025 the savings are increased to 10%-20%. This offer might be targeted, so check your account if you have a DashPass membership and are likely to use Lyft in the next couple of weeks.

Quick Thoughts

This promotion has apparently been running for the last few weeks; it’s still running for another fortnight though, so it seemed worth highlighting the promo for anyone with DashPass on their DoorDash account who’ll be able to make use of the savings.

The final line in the terms suggests that it’s a targeted promotion, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to get double the usual savings. However, seeing as it’s a Summer of DashPass promotion, perhaps that’s just indicating that it’s targeted on the basis that you need a DashPass subscription.

Speaking of which, many people can get a complimentary DashPass subscription courtesy of DoorDash’s partnership with Chase, so that’s a good way to get Lyft savings even if you have zero interest in using DoorDash itself.

There are also numerous other ways to save on Lyft rides or get rewarded for them. Amazon had a gift card promo the other day where Lyft gift cards – and some multi-brand gift cards that could also be exchanged for Lyft gift cards – went on sale for up to 20% off. Some Delta credit cards have a monthly rideshare credit that’s good for Lyft rides (as well as other rideshare companies). There are Chase Offers giving 10% back on up to $100 of spending with Lyft, as well as a Lyft Citi Offer giving 5% back on up to $100 of spend too.

On the earning side of things, you can link your Lyft account to Alaska Airlines, Hilton, Delta or Bilt to earn bonus points/miles on each ride. There’s also a SimplyMiles card-linked offer offering 4x bonus American Airlines AAdvantage miles plus 4x Loyalty Points per dollar spent on Lyft rides, with a limit of $116.25 of spend.

Just a note – was in Vegas recently and checked the 20% off on a scheduled ride to the airport. Since it was a couple days before we were to leave, ran the numbers. Even with 20% off, the price was higher than if I just logged on the morning of departure and requested a ride. I realize some might want that “guarantee” of a ride at the appointed time, but the 20% thing was not really a discount. Lots of Uber and Lyft in Vegas so just went with requesting as normal, not in advance…

This is a common occurrence with these financial intermediaries. It has been well documented that Uber inflates their prices when paying with Uber cash or a gift card balance. There is no way for them to offer “discounts”; that money has to come from somewhere.

Even if you use DoorDash or Uber Eats for pick up they inflate their prices.

Chain hotels infamously do this as well when they price in the cost of issuing points to loyalty members. The points you get rebated on cash stays ain’t free; the hotels have to buy them from the loyalty programs themselves.
