Quick Thoughts

I don’t know the cost here or how AHS compares to other options on the market (or whether any of them are worth it at all), but if you are shopping for this type of service, it may be worth considering the return here. At our Reasonable Redemption Value of 1.01c per point, the bonus here is worth a bit over $600. I can’t see warranty pricing without entering home information, but I think that the Gold and Platinum plans likely cost more than that, although this would obviously be a very significant rebate on the first year if you were already thinking about buying. You will obviously want to do your research though before considering this type of purchase as I don’t have any experience with AHS and am not recommending them but rather highlighting the opportunity for a decent points rebate.

Make sure to read the terms carefully for excluded areas. Furthermore, you have to sign up through the promotional landing page, otherwise you will not get the bonus points.

can’t speak to points, and I was anti-AHS until I got one for a home under a trust. Has turned out to be a major win; the $100-$125 service fee has been all I paid for a major dishwasher fix, an AC plumbing fix, etc. Literally just had a new water heater put in last week, cost $125. Not for everyone or every home, some techs have been terrible (and II just call and get a different one), but it’s probably already paid for a decade of costs.

Looked into this a while back with some other folks and decided not to pursue because apparently there is no point in the process where they collect your Wyndham information so we couldn’t figure out how they could possibly fulfill the offer

For home warranties, there is usually a yearly membership cost and a per visit cost. Those costs can add up quickly and you might be better off hiring your own repair people (after comparing reviews) or buying a new appliance versus having the home warranty replace a broken part.

Got an one year American Home Shield warranty when the seller paid for it during closing a couple of years ago. Never again! What a waste of money. The water heater broke, they found all kinds of reasons and ways to say why it wasn’t covered. When I appealed they sent me a $75 check. LOL. all the technicians they sent had 2 star or worse reviews on Google.

I signed up for the Gold plan the last time this offer came out and still haven’t received the points.
