We wrote earlier today about a deal on the Swych app offering $115 Lowe’s gift cards for $100. There’s a second deal on Swych that gives an even better discount on Lowe’s gift cards – if it’s not too late, do this deal first as there are daily purchase limits.
The Deal
- Buy $100 Lowe’s eGift Card for $85 when using promo code BACKYARDBBQ on the Swych App
Key Terms
- Limit 2 per person.
- Self-gift only.
- Expires 7/31/18 (?) or until supplies run out.
Quick Thoughts
This promotion is even better than the earlier deal. That one offered a 13% discount, whereas this provides a 15% discount.
If you haven’t placed an order yet, do this deal first. In addition to the limit of two cards per person, Swych appears to have other order restrictions in place. My wife and I each bought two of the $115 gift cards earlier and tried to buy two of these $100 Lowe’s gift cards as well.
The $115 cards went through OK and the first $100 card went through for each of us. However, when both of us tried ordering a second $100 card, we got the following message:
When looking at Swych’s general terms and conditions, I noticed the following wording:
What’s strange is that the two $115 orders we’d done earlier took us over the $150 daily limit, so I’m not sure why it allowed a third transaction of $100 before declining us for a fourth. Still, I guess I shouldn’t complain seeing as we at least got through the third order.
If you have a Chase Ink card, use Paypal to pay for your order and use the Ink card to earn 5x Ultimate Rewards on these purchases.
Off thread but why is it u can’t use the Hotel GC for every hotel on the Hotel.com on the site ?
My guess is it’s a combination between a Hotels.com IT issue and their contract with certain hotels. I’ve noticed that gift cards can’t be used at hotels where you also can’t redeem Welcome Rewards free nights for stays at those properties.
I’m assuming that not being able to redeem Welcome Rewards at those properties is the choice of the hotels themselves, presumably due to whatever redemption rate they’re paid by Hotels.com.
The fact that it’s always those same properties where you can’t use a gift card makes me think there’s also some element of a Hotels.com IT issue. My guess is that Welcome Rewards and their gift cards are processed using some kind of similar function on their system, so if you can’t use Welcome Rewards, you can’t use gift cards either.
I’m not 100% certain those are the reasons, but it’s my best guess. Having said that, another possible reason (though IMO far less likely) might be that stays booked using a gift card mean properties get paid at a lower rate than if the customer paid using a credit card, perhaps because Hotels.com sells their gift cards at a discount so frequently. I doubt that’s the case, but it might explain why properties that won’t accept Welcome Rewards redemptions there also won’t accept reduced rates when gift cards are redeemed.
Thanks I want to buy $3000 in Hotel.com GC’s BUT if I can’t use them on every hotel what’s the use . I’ve seen the same for their free nite too . Guess I’ll just keep the Citi Prestige card & book on Hotel.com too . There’s limits on every deal.
CHEERs
Although there have been a couple of occasions where I’ve not been able to use my Hotels.com GCs, I’d guess that the vast majority of properties accept GCs. Having said that, I tend to only use Hotels.com for stays at Wyndham properties and non-chain hotels – Marriott, IHG, Hilton, SPG, Hyatt & Radisson I book directly due to status/points.
Just FYI, you can frequently pick up Hotels.com GCs for 15-20% off, so this Best Buy deal wouldn’t be the best way to stock up on their GCs.
Most of my hotels are small and $100 per in France and Citi P card is a hassle and sometimes more then Hotels.com .NUTTHING but good things with Hotel.com u can even email the hotel by ur booking so late checkin no big deal.
CHEERs
It’s telling me the promo code has sold out at 930pm est.
Thanks for letting me know – I’ll update the post to mark it as expired.
Can Lowe’s gift cards be used to buy 3rd party gift cards in store (e.g. Amazon)?
As far as I’m aware you can’t use a Lowe’s gift card to purchase third party gift cards.
Was able to get one, said it was out of stock on the second one. I waited 5 min and tried again and showed it was back in stock. If you get an out of stock message, wait a minute and try again.
Did you do the $115 deal earlier as well, or just this one?
Yes, I was able to do both.
I didn’t get the out of stock message, but got a different message instead saying I’d exceed that amount in 24 hours.
I now get that message as well, but was able to get 2 cards on each of the deals.
Nice! I’m going to try again tomorrow if there are any more in stock.
[…] There’s a better deal on the Swych app offering $100 Lowe’s gift cards for $85, so do that deal […]
