About an hour from the time of publication (at 12pm Eastern on 11/29), Expedia will be offering a coupon good for 75% off select hotels (up to a $500 savings) and $100 off select flights. This is very limited in several ways: it will sell out in seconds, the coupon comes via the app, it doesn’t include chain hotel properties, and it is only valid on stays from November 29, 2019 to March 31, 2019. That said, I did manage to snag 75% off on a stay last year via this promotion.
The Deal
- Starting at 12pm Eastern time, Expedia.com will be offering 75% off select hotels (up to $500 in savings) via a code found in the Expedia app.
- Direct link to this promotion (but remember that you’ll need to download and log in to the Expedia app to get the code)
Key Details
- Starts at 12pm Eastern
- Limited to 1 use per customer
- Coupon code is only available in-app
Quick Thoughts
Again, this is kind of like a lottery ticket that you only pay for if you win. It’s not easy / likely to work easily, but it’ll be a nice win for those who can take advantage.
Keep in mind that:
- You’ll need to get the coupon via the app. Last year I believe I used the coupon to book on the Expedia.com site, but the code showed up in the app. I’m not sure whether you need to also book via the app for this deal.
- Chain hotels are excluded
- You can try using code APP15 right now. If it applies to the hotel you’re looking to book, the 75% off code should work for that property
- Limit 1 per customer
As noted at the top, I did score this deal last year. I stayed at The Graduate in Richmond on a quick overnight en route to visit family for the holidays. The hotel was a solid fine (clean and comfortable) and I was able to book a family suite with extra bunk beds for quite cheap. While I didn’t need the extra beds, the extra space was great.
This year I happen to have a potentially great use for this tomorrow night, so I’ll be giving it a go even though the chances are low.
H/T: Doctor of Credit
Holy smokes it sold out fast this year. I recall the deal being around for almost an hour last year. I bet there were tons of people looking this year, the obscure hotel I was looking at had 12 other people looking at it at the same time, so I can imagine what the numbers for hotels in top cities were.
Do you actually believe those “12 other people looking at this hotel” messages? I’ve always assumed it was just marketing BS like a car salesman telling you he’s got two other interested buyers.
Ha, maybe it’s more like “well, there were around 12 people looking at that hotel, and similar ones around it, sometime today.”
So we simply just open the app at noon and a coupon code might appear? Do you have to use the code immediately? Or do you have to open the app right at noon with a place in mind, try to book it quickly and then a code might appear at checkout?
If I remember correctly from last year, the coupon code showed up when refreshing the app / page and then you had to enter it within nanoseconds. I had the hotel I wanted on the booking page with my payment info filled out ready to enter the code and hit submit within a couple seconds of it going live.
Yea, it was a joke this year. I got lucky twice last year, but either the deal was published more widely this time or Expedia has further limited the amount of coupons. I managed to apply the coupon without an error and had my cc information already filled in and pressed the “Complete Booking” button at 9:00:03 am PT and it was already too late.
Also had the coupon applied successfully but wasn’t able to complete the reservation.
Well you guys got a step closer than I did. I didn’t even get it applied, though I certainly tried.
Yea, I blew it and couldn’t figure out where to put the coupon code for like 30 seconds. Amateur hour! Sounds like it would’ve been hard to get it even if I had been perfect.
