Quick Thoughts
Flying Blue Promo Rewards normally seem to be bookable for the coming 6 months, but this latest round appears to have been extended as it’s valid for travel through March 31, 2024 if you can find availability.
Availability isn’t always amazing, but it is there. For example, here’s Minneapolis to Amsterdam – there’s availability every month into next year:
It’s a similar situation for Detroit to Madrid:
One of the useful things about Flying Blue Promo Rewards is that when you can find availability for one person, you can often find availability for far more. For example, here’s what availability looks like for five people in October (note that the price displayed each day is the total amount for all passengers, so 56,250 is the 11,250 rate for five):
In case you’re wondering how to get that calendar view, when doing your initial search you just have to leave the travel date(s) blank. Something worth noting is that the calendar view often seems to be a day off, so if you see a lower price on, say, September 19, that price might not be available when clicking on that date but will be available on September 20 instead.

Is the cancellation free? If we book now but need to cancel in the future.
I believe not free, since about 8 months ago fees are back to 50 euros per passenger/ticket. Give Flying Blue a call if you have the time to wait and let us all know what is the latest.
So, no biz options this round?
None that are advertised. Having said that, in the past there have been discounted awards that aren’t listed; I didn’t find any in the searches I did, but that’s not to say they’re not out there.
Boston too but can’t find cheap tickets back
Can you upgrade to biz/1st with miles, and would that be a good deal?
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Flying Blue has started to allow free stopovers if you call in.
The call in number listed on the recent article about stopovers 1-800-375-8723 goes straight to a two option voice menu that directs you online to “learn about Flying Blue membership”. Any guidance appreciated
Update: number worked this morning, was on phone 15 minutes then call dropped while she processed the cancellation fee. Called back, took 25 minutes to get through and finish the transaction. This is why I tried to do it online to begin with but I was ultimately successful
Update: number did not work as of around 10 ET this morning. It gave 2 options and both said “do it online” essentially. I did find chat to work although it was fruitless after a long time trying (2+ hours).
I have not done much with Flying Blue so here’s a DP if others are aware of this. I was trying to add a stopover (recently reported here and elsewhere) to a relatively basic RT itinerary. The vanilla roundtrip ATL-BCN priced at 31.5K RT which connected through CDG on the inbound and AMS on the outbound (however just going ATL-AMS was 45K RT). I tried to separate my return flight to go BCN-AMS then a few days later finish up with AMS-ATL but it priced at 45K. The rep was helpful and tried but this appears to be a limitation (or I might have also read that reps can’t access the promo rates?). In any case YMMV with stopovers…
I called Flying Blue directly with the # on the website (about 3 weeks ago), spoke with an agent and they booked the open-jaw, no fees for using the agent because that’s the only way to book open-jaws
