The latest batch of Air France/KLM Flying Blue Promo Rewards came out a few days ago. As is common with these monthly deals, there’s the opportunity to fly to/from Europe from only 15,000 miles each way in economy. A couple of Canadian cities have also been included from which you can book business class from only 37,500 miles each way.

We have friends living in Portland, OR who’ll be meeting up with us in the UK in the spring, so I perked up when I saw Portland on the list. There’s pretty good availability from PDX to London from January through May; here’s what availability looks like in April (taxes and fees in that direction are ~$145):
Business class award availability from only 37,500 miles between Europe and Ottawa/Edmonton is better than I’d anticipated. Here’s what availability looks like in March from Ottawa to Rome; availability looks similar in other months through May:

There’s also a new 20% transfer bonus from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Flying Blue that you can take advantage of. That means you could get economy flights to/from Europe from 12,000 Ultimate Rewards each way or business class flights from only 30,000 Ultimate Rewards each way.

I saw a number of good flights – even LAX to AMS or BCN – for 20,000 before chase offer – however on almost all the flights the service charge is anywhere from $90 to $186, one way. Perhaps there are better deals to be had?
I tried looking for 2 business class seats Rome to Ottawa in late April, early May. Sad that there was nothing.
I lucked out with Edmonton to Amsterdam! A quick flight from YVR to Edmonton!
