Last week, The Points Guy announced that Fontainebleau Las Vegas is offering an “Elevate Your Status” match whereby they are matching status from other casino/resorts. When the news first broke, I wasn’t seeing the list of qualifying statuses on the Fontainebleau website, but they now list what will match where and for those with current Hard Rock Rock Royalty / Icon status, it will be worth doing this match if you’ll be in Las Vegas before June 2nd.

Quick Thoughts

Fontainebleau opened its doors last month and for the first day in business they were matching status for some members, but that died quickly. They are now back with a fully public status match offer.

Hard Rock Atlantic City has long been matching Caesars Diamond or MGM Gold to Hard Rock Rock Icon status (previously called Rock Royalty) and I believe you can do the same at Mirage in Las Vegas. I specifically call out that opportunity for several reasons:

  • Caesars Diamond status is relatively easy to get through their partnership with Wyndham Rewards by matching Wyndham Diamond status to Caesars Diamond status (which is going slowly this year – I don’t think matches have gone through yet since the new program year started on 2/1). You can get Wyndham Diamond status by simply holding the Wyndham Earner Business credit card.
  • Caesars Diamond only matches to Fontainebleau Silver status, whereas Hard Rock Icon status matches to Fontainebleau Gold status.
  • Fontainebleau Gold status comes with a $150 spa credit for one-time use and $150 dining credit for one-time use (see full benefits here). Note that Silver status comes with a $100 dining credit for one-time use, but no spa credit.

The biggest roadblock for some will be that Hard Rock is apparently now treating the Icon match as a once-per-lifetime deal, so if you’ve matched to Icon / Rock Royalty before, you likely won’t be able to do so again.

It is worth noting that the Fontainebleau website lists a number of other programs from which they will match. One of those competing programs is Genting Rewards, the program at Resorts World. When I was there recently, I saw that Genting Rewards was offering a status match (I overheard another customer inquiring about it). At the time, I looked at the benefits of their program and didn’t see anything of value to match for, so I didn’t inquire about where they would match Caesars Diamond / Hard Rock Icon / Ocean Prime / etc (I now regret not asking!). That may be of interest since Genting Monarch matches to Fontainebleau Gold as well — but, again, I don’t know at what level they will match Caesars status at Resorts World.

Finally, it’s worth noting that terms indicate that match processing may take up to 7 days, so this isn’t something you can count on definitively if you’re only visiting Las Vegas for a few days. That said, if you are matched, that matched status is scheduled to run through 12/31/24.

Overall, I think this match will be of high interest to those who can match to Gold status or higher.

Caesars Diamond only matched to Hard Rock Unity Legend status at the Mirage when I tried yesterday. Can still get this by doing Caesars Diamond -> Wynn Platinum -> Fountainebleau Gold instead, and maybe that last Gold status will work with Hard Rock for Icon (Wynn Platinum also only matched to Unity Legend).

I did the status match and was instantly approved to royal from Caesars seven stars. Put some play on the card as well. I’m hoping for some free or discounted hotel stays in the future.

Fontainebleau is a ghost town compared to other casinos on the strip. It’s unbelievable.

Just did the match this week. I got the Gold status and P2 got the Silver. Redeemed both $150 and $100 F&B and the $150 spa credit. Credits were available the same day – you just had to insert the card into a slot machine to activate. Good deal!

Ben

Resorts World isn’t helpful for matching to Gold as it didn’t seem like they matched my Ocean Prime status and Caesars diamond only matches to Genting Prime (not monarch). They do match Hard Rock Icon to Monarch.

I tried to use my Hard Rock Royalty card from Atlantic City to match and they said they didn’t match AC casinos. I went to the Mirage, printed a new card (Unity Icon) and went back the Fontainebleau the next day. They matched immediately. I used the dining credit the same night at Komodo.

Just want to confirm, that you match it and the dining credit for good to use on the same day, I am planning a trip next month and also to match to Gold and want to use the $150 dining and spa credit there to get some free food during the trip.

Chris Voth

The $150 dining credit was available for me on the same day of the match. I just had to put my card in a machine to activate it after the match. If I understand correctly, the way you use the spa credit is by charging it to your room, so for that one you might need to be staying on property (I was staying at Resorts World and did not try to use the Spa credit).

I believe the Spa Credit can now be used like the dining credit (without a stay). At least, that’s what I heard most recently.

Nick, Like the rest of the freeWorld, I have hilton Platinum Status. What can I match that to, that you think is of value?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hilton Platinum can only match to Starwood Unobtanium.

Yesterday, I confirmed that the matches at FB are being confirmed “on the spot.” You can use the food immediately. One caveat: the spa credit (for Gold and Royal) has to be charged to your room, and they then apply for the credit. So, currently, you can’t use the spa credit unless you are staying at FB.

We spoke about it a bit on the podcast yesterday.
“How the VIPs do it! Super Bowl LVIII Party at Bellagio + Some More Fontainebleau Tier Match info!” – Yo-11 Minutes: E49 Season 2

We matched ICON to BF Gold today. Initial Signup and match were easily handled at the rewards desk. Agent was friendly and helpful. To activate perks you will be asked to slide your new card into any slot machine. When doing so the machine reads out that you have activated $150 dining credit and $150 spa credit. You don’t need to gamble.

Michael’s caveat about needing charge the spa credit to a room could be in error. We were told by the rewards desk agent that our spa credit could be used without charging to a room stay. We then visited the spa and the receptionist confirmed with a manager that we could use our credit towards services without charging to a room. Any billing overages would just need to be paid at time of service. Most Spa services exceed the spa credit. We asked if P1 & P2 spa credits could be combined for use by one person. The answer was no. They said the credits used much match the name to whom the service was provided. Hope this helps.

Great data-points. The ability to use the spa credit (without hotel stay or room charge) was just updated within the past week.

You mentioned that you believe the Mirage is matching Caesars Diamond to ICON. Is that correct? I’m interested if anyone can confirm and has made that match recently. I’ve heard that the Mirage is only matching Caesars Diamond to Legend.
Thank you

Tony Shen

I did match to ICON at Mirage last April, but I am not sure if that match is still available.

John Tran

Today, they only matched Caesars Diamond to Legend. Their website also stated Legend. Probably they had many matches and learned.

Andrew

Encountered the same thing yesterday, only matching Diamond to Legend.
