Air Canada launched a new promotion for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders yesterday which can get you 5,000 points off your next award booking when using Aeroplan points.
The Deal
- Earn a 5,000 points flight reward certificate with Aeroplan when registering with your Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- To be eligible for this offer your Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card account must be open and not in default and your Aeroplan account must be in good standing at the time of registration and fulfillment. Only members who register between August 5th at 12:01:01 AM EST and 23:59:59 PM EST on August 18th are considered eligible for this offer.
- Register for the offer by entering your First Name, Last Name, Aeroplan Number, and the last 4 digits of your Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card and click “Register Now”.
- The offer is only available to the primary cardmember of the Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card account and only one 5,000-point flight reward certificate can be earned per Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card account.
- The First Name and Last Name of your Aeroplan account must match the First Name and Last Name of your Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card account.
- Flight reward certificates have no cash value and cannot be exchanged or refunded.
- For the purposes of this offer, the expiry date of the Flight reward certificate is 365 days after the day that the flight reward certificate is deposited into your Aeroplan account. The flight reward certificate can take up to 14 days to be deposited into your Aeroplan account from the time of registration. For the purposes of this offer, only one Flight Reward Certificate can be earned per Aeroplan account. Chase is not responsible for the provision of, or failure to provide, the stated offer.
- A flight reward certificate reduces the base fare in points of a single Aeroplan flight reward ticket for one passenger by up to the specified points value. Flight reward certificates are valid towards a new booking only and are not valid on existing reservations. Bookings must be made directly with Aeroplan, via aircanada.com/aeroplan, the Air Canada Mobile App, or through the Aeroplan call center.
- Flight reward certificates apply to the base fare in points only. You are responsible for all incidental charges, including any taxes, partner booking fees and 3rd party charges which apply to the Aeroplan flight reward. One flight reward certificate is required per passenger on the reservation, and the value may not be split between multiple passengers.
- If a member chooses to use a flight reward certificate for a flight reward worth more than the value of their flight reward certificate, the member will be required to pay the additional points required for the new single flight reward.
- The flight reward certificate cannot be combined with other flight reward discount certificates, including but not limited to Priority Reward vouchers or other points-based certificates.
- Flight reward certificates may not be transferred to another Aeroplan account but can be used to book a flight reward for a traveler other than the member.
Quick Thoughts
This is a lovely little bonus for Sapphire Reserve cardholders which is worth registering for even if you don’t currently have plans to book an Aeroplan award flight. That’s because the 5,000 point flight reward certificate has good utility as it’s valid for a full 365 days from when it’s deposited into your account.
You can use it to book an award flight for someone other than yourself and there’s nothing in the terms stating that it has to be redeemed for an Air Canada flight. You can therefore use it to book an award flight with any one of the dozens of airlines that Aeroplan partners with.
You have until August 18 to register for this offer, so on the one hand it could be worth waiting a week or so to register to maximize how long the certificate is valid for. However, you then run the risk of forgetting to register entirely, so depending on how forgetful or how much of a procrastinator you are, it could be better to simply register right now and hope those few days don’t make a difference further down the line.
The registration page for this promotion only mentions the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, not the Sapphire Reserve for Business. That leads me to believe that the business version of the card isn’t eligible, but it doesn’t hurt to try registering it anyway if you only have that card rather than a personal Sapphire Reserve.

I just got mine – has anyone successfully used this? Not only does it not seem to be coming off, but I seem to need the full points amount in my account to even have the option for the all points booking
I received my certificate. I got an email from Aeroplan today (August 14) about it and I see it in my account. I registered on August 5th.
Has anyone gotten theirs yet?
When my registration went through it said it would take up to two weeks to appear in your Aeroplan account.
How do we know if it worked or not? I submitted for my CS biz but didn’t get any confirmation one way or the other. Just wait and see or do we get an email or something?
The landing page only mentions Chase Sapphire Reserve, so I suspect the business version isn’t eligible. Doesn’t hurt to try though. I’d meant to mention this in the post, so I’ll add that in now.
I read on DOC that it is eligible fwiw
Does this work for CSR business cards or just personal?

Just off FB chat with Aeroplan: There is a known issue with cards who’s last four digits start with a zero. It will not allow you to register. They said it is with their IT department but there is no know ETA for having it fixed.
Seriously? In “2025”?
I think they just fixed it, mine begins with zero and was rejected earlier but I just submitted successfully.
I wonder how long this will take to show up.
Same. I assume you haven’t seen it yet? I applied yesterday and still nada
I applied this morning, but also booked an Aeroplan flight this morning. If the voucher shows up soon, I can cancel and rebook. But probably unlikely.
