Synchrony increased the welcome offer on the Virgin Atlantic credit card from 40,000 points to 60,000 a couple of weeks ago. There’s now an even better offer available when doing a dummy booking that offers the same number of bonus points, but throws in a $100 statement credit too.
In order to see this offer, go to Virgin Atlantic’s website and start making a flight booking. I didn’t test an award booking, but a cash ticket did display this bonus with the $100 statement credit.
It initially displayed an ad for it on the screen where you enter your personal details. It seemed a little strange because there was no way to click on the offer in order to apply for the card. Instead, you have to go through to the next screen where you’d normally submit your payment details. The top option you should see there is a link to apply for the welcome offer with the $100 additional bonus.
Clicking on that will expand the box to show the offer. Clicking on the ‘Apply Now’ button that’ll subsequently appear will open up a new window to apply for the card with Synchrony. If that new window doesn’t appear, you might need to ensure that your browser is allowing popups that one time.
The popup window does display a unique URL which can be opened in a different browser. However, we’ve not included a direct link to this offer because it seems like that link might only be valid for use one time. I went through the dummy booking process a few times; each time the application link was different, so we don’t want to cause potential issues for any readers who used the same link. It’s not a big deal though because it’s easy to access this enhanced offer via the dummy booking method; it just takes an extra couple of minutes of your time. It’s worth it for the extra $100 if you were planning on applying for this card anyway.

Virgin Atlantic points are not very valuable. Why would you waste a credit pull, new card listing on your credit history for this crappy card?
For this card is it possible to see pre-approval / use soft-pull or is it a hard pull?
