Alaska Visa Hawaii New York companion round trip

As per this Secret Flying post, Alaska Airlines is currently offering round trip airfares from New York (Newark) to Maui, Hawaii as low as $557 round trip. Alaska Airlines Visa Signature and Visa Business cardholders can make particularly good use of this sale as it is a great chance to use the annual $99 companion airfare certificate that comes as one of the benefits of those cards.

I just created a sample itinerary using Secret Flying’s dates and added a companion fare code. This codes can be found in your MileagePlan account information if you are a credit card holder.  For two people, the itinerary priced out at $724.08, or just $362.04 per person.

Additionally, these flights earn 100% miles in MileagePlan, meaning that a member with no elite status would earn about 10,000 redeemable Alaska miles for a round trip (enough for a short round trip on Alaska with the recent program changes).  Even better, many readers who are newly minted Southwest Companion Pass holders may be able to match that status to Alaska. Historically, Alaska has matched Companion Pass holders to MVP Gold.  As an MVP Gold member, one would earn a 100% bonus — meaning the round trip would earn the MVP Gold member ~20,000 miles and another ~10,000 miles for the companion.  That represents a fantastic rebate on an already terrific airfare.

For more details on the fare sale and other potential dates, see this Secret Flying post.

Tried match company pass to MVP Gold. Alaska refused to do so and explained that they only match the company pass which are earned by actual flying.

LONG layover.
