Update 8/26/24: We’ve been informed that this (very good) offer on the Capital One Venture Rewards card will be ending on September 9th.
For the past 18 months, the best offer available on the Capital One Venture Rewards card was one that gave $200 in statement credits when booking Avelo flights in addition to the 75,000 bonus miles. There’s now a better offer, not only in terms of the value of the credits you can earn, but also in terms of their ease of earning.

Quick Thoughts
The $200 statement credits on Avelo flights were potentially useful if you happened to live in a city served by them and wanted to visit somewhere they fly to, but I imagine for many people the credits went to waste. This new welcome offer on the other hand is much easier to redeem.
That’s because this new increased offer comes with $250 in credits that can be redeemed for bookings through the Capital One Travel portal. That means you can spend the $250 on flights, hotels and/or rental cars, giving you far more opportunities to redeem the credits.
Note that the $250 is part of the welcome offer and is valid in your first cardholder year. It’s therefore not like the $300 in credits you get every year on the Venture X card.
Is the $250 credit good for this calendar year, or 1 year from when the card was opened?
Would I be approved if I am already a authorized user on wife account?
I signed up for this card 3 days ago. Just called and politely requested an offer match; denied. Escalated; manager doubly denied. Asked for curtesy points to makeup difference; triply denied. Lol. Manager also proceeds to tell me “no other company does that when within 30 days” after i brought it up. Iv already hit the spend. Soon as points deposit, ill transfer out and cancel card right away.
I wonder how the $250 Credit works if you book a trip and then cancel. Is there a clawback of the $250 credit.
On the Venture X it effectively works as a discount when booking, but I’m not certain if that’s how it’ll work with the Venture Rewards card.
We just opened two of these cards last month. I am wondering if anybody has had any luck getting capital one to honor that offer post application?
Any idea on how long Capital One will offer this “limited-time offer?”
We don’t know I’m afraid
Perhaps when Capital One meets their quota of former Walmart card converts after the converts realize that the Quicksilver isn’t that great. Or until Greg The Frequent Miler applies for the Venture Rewards card
Can you apply for this while holding the Venture X?
Yes, though Capital One is pretty picky on approvals so I wouldn’t apply unless you haven’t opened a new card in 6 months (unless you don’t care about a potential denial + 3 hard pulls)
There are some reports that Capital One has a 4/24 rule. It seems they want to dissuade hobbyists.
Greg should apply for this one.
So it’s basically $550 worth of travel credits in the first year correct? $250 as part of the welcome offer + the $300 as part of the card benefits.
Unfortunately not. It’s the Venture X that comes with the $300 credit each year; the card this post is about is the Venture Rewards card which doesn’t have that $300 credit (but which also has a much lower annual fee as a result).
no, it’s just the $250 in travel credits. The Venture X (with $395 annual fee and $300 annual credit) is a different card than plain Venture with $95 annual fee.
