Quick Thoughts
If you have this offer on a Hilton Aspire card, you could stack the Amex Offer with the $250 Resort Credit to save up to 45%.
There are six Hilton properties in Hawaii that qualify for the $250 Aspire credit (although there are many others that’ll trigger the Amex Offer only):
- Hilton Waikiki Beach
- Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort
- Hilton Waikoloa Village.
- Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort
- Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki – Beachwalk
- DoubleTree by Hilton Alana – Waikiki Beach
There are also seven Hilton Grand Vacations properties in Hawaii that qualify for the $250 resort credit, but I’m not 100% sure whether or not they’d trigger the Amex Offer.
- Kings’ Land
- The Grand Islander
- Grand Waikikian
- Hilton Hawaiian Village
- Kohala Suites
- Hokulani Waikiki
- Ocean Tower
Depending on when you visit, paid rates at some of these properties can be fairly reasonable. For example, a four night stay in April at the DoubleTree Alana can be had for just over $1,000 when booking the Flexible Rate:
Paying for this stay with the Aspire card with the Amex Offer loaded would have a net cost of $561.65, or an average of $140.41 per night.
Note that Advance Purchase rates are excluded, but if your stay is after June 30 you should be able to call the hotel and have them take payment in order to trigger the Amex Offer.
Can anyone confirm that the amex offer was triggered by Hilton hotels in hawaii that were not specifically a hilton? In my case, I am staying at the Waldorf in maui and I am wondering if this amex offer applies to that hotel.
Stephen, I have a points reservation at Waldorf on Maui in March. If I put hotel charges (parking, food, etc) during my stay on the Aspire card that has this AO attached, will it trigger the $200 credit? What do you think?
Yes – so long as those things are charged to your room and total $1,000 or more.
There’s also a DoubleTree in Hilo. Doesn’t qualify for the Aspire credit but should for the $200 off $1000.
When you say “There are six Hilton properties in Hawaii:” are you just talking about ones that qualify? What about the Hilton Garden Inns? Do they not qualify? There’s far more “Hilton properties” in Hawaii than the ones you list on other islands.
Sorry, I didn’t phrase that section very well. Those are properties that qualify for the Aspire $250 Resort Credit – there are many other properties in Hawaii that will trigger the Amex Offer. I’ve updated the post to reflect that.
On a $1,000 charge, how do I ensure the $200 posts first ($1,000 req) & then the $250 resort credit also posts?
I don’t think there’s anything you’d need to do – I think it just posts automatically.
Right, but if the $250 posts first then the balance is only $750, so the $200 then won’t post.
I think when there was a similar stacking opportunity on what was previously known as the SPG Luxury card, the Amex Offer came off first, then the $300 credit, so you should be good. If you wanted to play it completely safe though, you’d need to spend $1,250.
Ok thanks, was hoping to triple dip: $200 AMEX credit; $250 resort credit; remainder on a Chase card with 10% off Hilton offer. I wanted to maximize #3.
Regarding the Aspire credit, do the first 6 properties you listed qualify for it? I found some dates at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort for $191/night.
Yes, those properties qualify for the credit. You can find a list of all qualifying resorts worldwide at http://www.hilton.com/resorts
Ok thanks. Booked 4 nights there in June. Total is 1087 for four nights – $450 (amex offer and resort credit). Also used two Ritz 60k certs at Ritz Waikiki as well for total of 6 nights, and got two United economy flights for total 90k + $22 fees (45k each, economy saver). How did I do? I almost never travel or book award travel, so I never know if I’m doing this correctly/efficiently, haha. Never been to Hawaii, so hoping it’s a nice time.
That sounds like a decent cost / redemption 🙂 Enjoy Hawaii – can’t wait to go there for the first time myself in the next few years.
