Last May, my wife and I took a long weekend in Milan on the way back to the US from an extended trip to India. While the Park Hyatt Milan is the bougie, sought-after property in the city, the 45K/night price tag made us look a little further afield to the well-reviewed Hyatt Centric Milano Centrale. It was a category 4 property at the time, so we were able to burn a Hyatt Category 1-4 free night certificate and it ended up suiting our needs nicely.
Hyatt Centric Milano Centrale Bottom Line Review
The Hyatt Centric Milano Centrale is a well-located property a few blocks from Milan’s Centrale train station. The hotel is stylish, has a banging (and very expensive) rooftop bar and the service was quite lovely. Unfortunately, this is now a Category 5 property, putting it out of the reach of free night certificates and dampening the value and appeal somewhat. Rating: Thumbs up as a Category 4, less-so as a Category 5
- Price: At the time that we stayed, this was still a Hyatt Category 4, but it’s since been elevated to a category 5 property costing 18K/20K/23K points off-peak/peak/standard. When I was there in April 2024, the cash price was ~$300/night.
- Value: This was a great value in Milan as a Category 4, especially given the location,. That’s changed somewhat now that the award price has gone up. Most of the nights that I saw in 2025 provided somewhere around 1.5 – 1.8 cents per point in value…acceptable for Hyatt points, but not great.
- Location: Very convenient, as it’s located less than 500 meters from the front entrance of Stazione Centrale, the main train station in Milan and an easy bus drop-off from Linate or Malpensa Airports. It’s about a 30-40 minute walk from the Duomo and central Milan, or about 10 minutes or so via public transit.
- Room: At check-in, the front desk agent apologized to us because there was a large tour group at the hotel (which seems common) and there were no suites available. We did get a “deluxe” room on a high floor with a nice view of the local area. The room was well-kept and chic, if a little on the small side at 300 square feet. Complimentary Lavazza coffee was included as were non-alcoholic beverages (primarily Red Bull Organics).
- Parking: There is no parking at the hotel, with the closest garage being about a five-minute walk away.
- Resort/Destination Fee: None.
- Internet: Excellent, able to stream throughout the hotel.
- Service: While it’s not Park Hyatt level, my wife and I were both pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the staff, from the restaurant to housekeeping to the front desk. To a person, everyone was friendly and sought out ways to help us with our stay, both in the hotel and out.
- Turndown service: Daily.
- Dining:
- Organics SkyGarden@Cielo: Lovely rooftop bar with a leafy, open feel. Prices will make you feel the elevation. Bar is open Tuesday – Saturday from 6:00pm-12:00am and Sunday/Monday from 3:30pm-12:00am. Dinner is also served Tuesday – Saturday from 7:30pm-10:30pm.
- Rivington Cucina New York: “New York-style” steakhouse located below the ground floor. This is where breakfast is served in the morning. Open for dinner Tuesday – Saturday from 7:30pm-10:30pm.
- Intermezzo: Effectively a lobby bar for cocktails and coffee drinks. Bar is open Tuesday – Saturday from 3:30pm-12:00am.
- Spa: None.
- Fitness Room: There is a small fitness area by the restaurant with a few cardio machines, a sauna and a smattering of free weights.
- Hyatt Globalist Benefits:
- Suite Upgrade: I booked a standard king room and was upgraded to a Deluxe City View room on a high floor. Suites were sold out
- Free Breakfast: Served in the restaurant. It’s a more or less a standard European breakfast buffet that can get incredibly busy before tour groups depart. Fresh-squeezed juices and excellent coffee drinks are included.
- Late Checkout: Automatically given 4pm.
- Parking: There is no parking garage in the hotel.
- Would I stay again? As a Category 4, it was a great deal. As a Category 5, I might be more tempted to check out the field.
Hyatt Centric Milano Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent location near the Centrale train station and within easy reach of central Milan.
- The interior design is pretty stylish, if a bit dark.
- Lots of nice public hangout spaces throughout the hotel.
- Very attentive service.
Cons
- Later at night, the area around the train station can get a little sketchier (as in many European cities).
- Standard rooms are fairly small.
- No pool and a lackluster fitness area for those that want them.
- Seems to be a favorite of large tour groups, which can gum up the works a bit at check-in and breakfast.

My absolute go-to if I’m in Milan. Been there 3x last 18 months both as a cat 4 and with points. Be back again next August. Rate have gone up but for the location and room, it was great, and the Turkish steam bath was unique. (I’ll save my 25k pt differential from the PH for other places.)

One of the worst Hyatt Centrics. We (Wife & I Both Globalist). Got a Room 3 feet from the Toilet.widow was 3 Feet from the Bed on the other side. Front Desk not very attentive, promised to Give a Bigger Room,But made a mistake gave it to a New check in. Needless to say, Checked out 5-Days early.
We were there about a year ago and liked it. Unfortunately you missed one of the more unusual aspects of the hotel that we had never seen before. We used a suite upgrade award and had a private Turkish bath attached to the room (separate from the bathroom). Basically a full steam room with shower. Definitely unusual and kind of fun too. We thought the staff was great, and the neighborhood around the hotel at night seemed more “gentrified” than the train station a few blocks away. We really didn’t have any concern about our safety in the area at night—plenty of baby strollers around.
