Quick Thoughts
It’s a bit of a shame that this promotion requires a minimum stay of five consecutive nights, although it does make somewhat sense considering Hyatt House and Hyatt Studios are both extended stay brands where many guests will indeed be staying five or more nights at a time.
A useful feature of this promotion is that it’s valid on both paid and award stays.
This promotion could also sweeten the deal for mattress runs for those needing some additional elite night credits in order to earn Globalist status, particularly with this promotion being valid on stays through the end of the year. If you can find a category 1 Hyatt House or Hyatt Studios property that has five or more consecutive nights at off-peak redemption rates, your net cost for every five nights would only be 2,500 points per night. That’s because off-peak category 1 hotels cost 3,500 points per night; five nights would therefore be 17,500 points, reduced to 12,500 by the 5,000 bonus points from this promo.
If you do find off-peak category 1 availability towards the end of the year, it might be worth making some speculative bookings now in case that availability dries up quickly. For example, when scheduling this post last night, the Hyatt House Sterling-Dulles Airport-North had 11 consecutive nights of off-peak award availability in December:

Something important to bear in mind is that based on how the promotion is set up, an 11 night stay would presumably only earn 5K bonus points as those points are awarded on stays of 5+ nights, not for every five consecutive nights. You’d therefore want to do something like book December 11-16 at this property, stay December 16-17 elsewhere (there are several category 1 Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties around Dulles), then book December 17-22 back at the Hyatt House. That’s assuming you need that many elite night credits.
If you do go this route, be sure to check the cancellation policy and set a reminder to yourself to cancel the stay(s) if you end up not needing the elite night credits at the end of the year.
There’s a total of 12 category 1 Hyatt House properties in the US, as well as a category 1 Hyatt Studios in Mobile, AL. I haven’t checked for off-peak availability at all of those, but if you live near any of those locations then it could be worth checking the points calendar for the properties to easily see at a glance if/when there are 3,500 point nights available. I did notice though that Hyatt House East Moline – Quad Cities has a whopping 37 consecutive nights of off-peak award availability starting mid-November.

Does using points for free nights count toward qualifying nights? In the T&Cs, an “Eligible Stay” is defined as consecutive nights at a participating property where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award.
Yes – a free night award is a night booked with either points or a free night certificate.
