IHG: 15% off award redemptions for elite members & cardholders

5

IHG One Rewards is again offering a 15% discount on award stays for Platinum & Diamond elite members as well as IHG credit card holders. The 15% discount won’t stack with a 4th-night-free deal, so cardholders will get the discount on stays of 3 or fewer nights. Platinum and Diamond members get the discount on stays of any available length.

The Deal

  • Chase IHG One Rewards Credit Cardmembers will receive early access to a 15 percent discount when booking a Reward Night by October 30, 2024 for stays between October 25, 2024 and November 22, 2024
  • No special code is required. You’ll see the discount reflected in search results when logged in to the website or app.

Terms and Conditions

  • Only those Reward Nights booked by October 30, 2024 for stays during the period from October 25, 2024 through November 22, 2024 qualify for the Offer. Dates are based on the hotel’s time zone as identified on the participating hotel’s booking page at the time of booking.

  • The Offer is not available to use along with the “Fourth Reward Night Free” cardmember benefit when booking a stay of four (4) or more consecutive Reward Nights. The Offer will be applied for eligible cardmembers booking three (3) or fewer consecutive Reward Nights.

  • The Offer is for a 15% discount off the number of points needed to book a stay using points only. This offer does not include a discount for Points & Cash.

Quick Thoughts

This could make for some good deals for those looking to book a short stay, as a 15% discount will save you a decent chunk of points. Note that if you have an IHG free night certificate that can’t be topped off with points (like the certificate from the old IHG select card or from a credit card promotion), then this discount should make some properties bookable with a cert that would otherwise be too expensive.

The deal won’t stack with the 4th night free benefit offered on cards like the IHG One Rewards Premier, so cardholders will only see the discount reflected on stays of up to 3 nights. That seems a bit awkward in the marketing because it makes it feel like IHG is encouraging members to check out early or book shorter stays. However, the overall discount offered by the 4th night free benefit is larger, so cardholders already get a better deal than 15% off on stays of 4 nights or longer.

This deal probably won’t get me to book any stays that I wouldn’t have already, but if you have an IHG property in mind, it would definitely make sense to look at locking it up over the next few days if you qualify for the discounts.
