IHG Cyber Sale: 500 free points and 17%-40% off hotel stays

IHG has pre-launched its Cyber Sale for 2024 and there are a few potentially interesting opportunities. While none of these are standouts, all of them could be of interest for some IHG One Rewards members.

Discounts on bookings start today for IHG members…but only when reserving through the app (!). Everyone will be able to access the cyber sale via all IHG booking channels starting Wednesday, November 20th.

Terms and Conditions

500 Free Points with App Download

• The member must first register their member number or email associated with their IHG One Rewards account to be eligible for the Promotion.

• Once a member has registered, the member can earn 500 IHG One Rewards bonus points after downloading the IHG app and using the app to sign in to their IHG One Rewards account.

• Registration and completion of the download and sign-in must occur by 31 December, 2024.

• This promotional offer can only be redeemed once per member, and a maximum of 500 IHG One Rewards bonus points can be achieved.

Save 25% as in IHG member, 17% as a non-member

• Bookings must be made at least three (3) days in advance of your check-in date.

• Promotional Rates are valid across participating properties in the US, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Middle East, Africa and Greater China.

• Members save 25% on bookings made between 18-19 November, 2024 in the IHG App, for stays 21 November, 2024 – 30 April, 2025, globally at participating IHG Hotels & Resorts.

Quick Thoughts

If you’ve never downloaded the IHG app, doing this and signing in is a no-brainer as that’s 500 easy points without having to make a reservation.

The initial two days of discounted rates are only valid on bookings in the IHG app and only for IHG members. Starting Wednesday, all bookings made directly with IHG are included. You should still be able to earn cashback from a shopping portal regardless of whether you book via the app or the website…and keep an eye out for shopping portal rates over the next few days as we often see rates of 10%-15% for IHG.

Iberostar is an all-inclusive brand that IHG bought last year. About half of their properties are in Spain and the other half are spread out around Europe, Africa and the Americas. A 40% discount is potentially an excellent rate, especially if you can find an already cheap off-season rate. Like the 17-25% offer on all hotels, this 40% discount comes off of the best flexible rate, so the end result might not be quite as amazing as it sound initially.
