IHG One Rewards has opened registration for a Fall promotion which allows members the opportunity to earn 3,000 bonus points every two nights. There is no earning cap with this promotion and it will be valid on all stays between 9/19/24 and 12/31/24.
The Deal
- IHG One Rewards is offering a promotion where members earn 3,000 bonus points for every two nights they stay between 9/19/24 and 12/31/24.
Key Terms
- Members will be able to stay and earn IHG One Rewards bonus points under this Promotion beginning September 19, 2024 and ending on December 31, 2024 (the “Promotion Period”).
- After registering for the Promotion, a member can earn 3,000 bonus points for every two (2) qualifying room night stays during the Promotion Period.
- The time needed for awarding points can vary with each promotion, so please allow up to 6 weeks for any earned bonus points to be posted to the recipient’s account.
- For the purposes of this Promotion, a “Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay” is defined as a minimum one (1) night stay at a participating hotel booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 (or local currency equivalent) for each night.
- Stays booked using Rewards Nights or Points & Cash are not Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stays for purposes of this Promotion.
- Bookings made through on-line travel agencies or other reservation sites such as booking.com or expedia.com also do not qualify under this Promotion. (For additional details on Qualifying Rates, please see the full IHG One Rewards Membership Terms and Conditions.)
Quick Thoughts
This IHG One Rewards promotion is very similar to several that they’ve run over the last couple of years. We’re now in a “pre-registration” window where you can register for the promotion and start booking stays although the actual promotional period doesn’t start until 9/19/24. This undoubtedly will create at least a little confusion as I’m sure some folks will assume that stays booked once they register will count towards the promo.
The promotion as it stands isn’t terribly lucrative. We value IHG points at .62 cents each and this promotion effectively gives an extra 1,500 points per night (assuming you don’t stay an odd number of nights), or ~$9.30/night in value. That’s better than a kick in the pants for sure, but nothing that should inspire anyone to change any stays in order to take advantage of it.
Note that award nights DO NOT count towards this promo.
are “ihg luxury & lifestyle” or virtuoso bookings made through affiliated TA qualified for promotions such as this?
If I check-in to a stay before the promo period begins but check out after the promo period has started, how is (or isn’t) that counted?
