I just received an exciting email from SAS. The subject heading is “You’re a SAS EuroBonus Millionaire!” You may remember that in our Million Mile Madness challenge, Nick, Stephen, and I competed to earn a million SAS miles by flying 15 qualifying SkyTeam airlines with the most S.A.S. (Speed, Affordability, and Style). I had one flight (China Eastern) that didn’t appear to have credited properly, but apparently it did! More about that below.
email: You’re a SAS EuroBonus Millionaire!
Here’s the full body of the email I received:

I will, of course, follow up by sharing some of the content that I recorded during Frequent Miler’s Million Mile Madness challenge.
My China Eastern flight
In order to earn the million miles from SAS’ promotion, it was necessary to fly 15 different qualifying airlines before the end of 2024. And, importantly, it was necessary to credit those flights to SAS. Those with SAS miles could book flights with SAS miles. But everyone else (including me, Nick, and Stephen) had to book paid flights and credit those flights to SAS (e.g. we needed to earn SAS miles from the flights).
I was very careful to make sure that all of my flights had my SAS number attached and that all of them were booked into eligible SAS mileage earning booking classes. After flying, some of the flights credited automatically, but with others I had to request credit through SAS’ online form. Via that form, I succeeded initially in getting all but 3 flights credited. The missing ones were Air France, KLM, and China Eastern. After a while, though, Stephen told me that the form was finally working for Air France and KLM and so when I tried again, those worked! And I was left waiting for China Eastern.
With China Eastern, when I initially used SAS’s online form to request credit, the form declared success. I was very happy about that until I noticed that the activity didn’t show in my SAS account. That is, the form said that I had earned miles, but none showed up in my account. When I tried again with the form, it told me that miles were already credited to a different account. I called SAS and they entered a support ticket for me, but I never heard anything back about it other than an email saying “Due to some technical difficulties, we’re currently unable to register points. Please know that our team is working diligently to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.”
It seems that somewhere in SAS’ inner workings, SAS knows that I flew China Eastern and earned points. And I’m sure I’ll eventually see those points in my account. The important thing, though, is that SAS is clearly counting this flight as qualifying or else they wouldn’t have sent me the congratulatory email!
Congratulations ! You are a Eurobonus Millionaire !!!! I have a question – perhaps you may be able to help. I booked a flight with Eurobonus points – Xiamen and Korean – both with same PNR booked with SAS App – Booking class “X”. Would they both qualify as flights or do you think I need to fly again ? It has been over 2 weeks now and I have not received any confirmation from SAS. China Airlines and Air Europa points have not credited yet into my account but the booking class as per SAS website qualify. Still waiting for my millionaire email.
Thanks in advance !
Well, my wife and I spent over 12k€ – traveled for 2.5 weeks and got to see the great wall of China, swimming in nice beaches in Cancun; visited Chichen Itza & swam in Cenote in Mexico. We took 16 flights (actually 15 for me as KLM got canceled last minute and had to fly Lufthansa or would have missed other connecting flights). Now I am worried that I may need to travel again as I am still waiting for China Airlines points to credit – pending for 3 weeks and SAS website does not work. Air Europa is also pending for a week now and I need to get them to credit it. Both classes are eligible though. Excited that my wife and I will be millionaires too.
We plan to travel to Asia again to fly XIAMEN and KOREAN air that we booked with Points on our trip. Paid with 15000 Eurobonus points – Beijing to Xiamen (Xiamen Airlines) and Xiamen to Seould (Korean Air) – Booking class for both flights was “X” which is not eligible to earn points – but as we used Eurobonus points to book the tickets, both airlines probably are going to be accepted for the challenge. Still – if someone can confirm would be great.
The ever prescient and the most eurodite of the Frequent Miler posters is conspicuous by his absence of receiving the SAS million mile award letter…..Must be “in the mail.” LOL
Congratulations Greg
If you would consider sharing with us: What were your total number of hours spent flying, staying in hotels, commuting back & forth to hotels, planning your trips, and follow-up time after flying submitting online forms, phone calls to SAS to finally receive the SAS congratulatory letter. AND the total number of points, miles, & dollars spent to obtain the SAS letter?
LOL. Figuring all that out might taking longer than actually doing it. My total travel time was 9 days. No idea how much time I spent planning
GREAT to hear that this is working. I have done 16 airlines in 3 weeks but 2 are failing to appear yet… AEROLINAS ARGENTINA on Nov. 12th and AIR FRANCE is giving a hard time for some reason on a Y fare?? I flew 54,000 miles, 23 countries and had to take 28 flights just to make sure. I’m worried about one of these 2 airlines not panning out. I’d hate fo have to fly to France to get one I’m missing, Grrrr…. Anyone with a solution for AEROLINEAS ARGENTINA of AIR FRANCE?
It was tiring but FUN TOO…
Awesome! How exciting for you and whomever you have chosen as the most helpful for you from this challenge. Any update on Nick and Stephen getting their flight credited?
Now let’s see who can come up with the most interesting *redemption* of those miles. Another challenge maybe?
Hmmm….
Congrats!
I’m curious how many additional SAS miles you earned flying the 15 flights.
14 airlines showing out of 16 but only 7820 points in the account now. I’ve documented in Facebook and will do Instagram. Thanks SAS!
Only 8800 miles so far
Greg
I think in the judging, there should have been a category for who got it to post on time first!
The other airlines or alliances should take note and come up with some interesting challenges.
Congratulation! So happy for you.
Yay! I’ll toast you in the BOS Sapphire Lounge later today. Thanks for bringing us along.
The BOS was absolute best lounge so far, Trying out CapOne lounges in DFW and DEN next week.
Congratulation. It seems even more gratifying that you won a non-FM created challenge. Well done!
Congratulations!!
I also received the same email! SAS has done a brilliant job rolling out and handling this promotion.
Congrats !!!
This was also a great way for SAS to rapidly and intensively stress test the IT connections with the other airlines, and the potential variables – which will benefit all consumers down the road. Brilliant effort.
