There are a couple of new Amex Offers out today. One that caught my eye was this new offer to get 11,500 Membership Rewards points for $750 or more in purchases at Raymour & Flanigan.
The Offer
- Spend $750+, get 11,500 Membership Rewards Points
- Valid in-store and online
Key Terms
- Expires 8/22/17
Quick Thoughts
That’s a great offer if you’re looking for furniture. With this offer covering Memorial Day and Fourth of July sale periods, those who are in need of a new sofa or mattress could end up with a nice rebate in terms of Membership Rewards points. According to our Reasonable Redemption Values, Membership Rewards points are worth 1.82 cents a piece, though we know that some people can get 2 cents per point pretty easily. Those numbers means that this offer is worth $209-$230 (or potentially more with transfer partners). That’s excellent. The offer appears to be targeted — I had it on a couple of cards, but my wife only had it on an authorized user card under one of my targeted accounts.
Hilton
The Offer
- Spend $300 or more at Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Curio Collection, get $60 back
- Add this online or via Twitter with #AmexHltnCurio
Key Terms
- Expires 7/30/17
- Only valid in the US and US Territories
- Excludes all of the brands that aren’t either Hilton or Curio Collection (i.e. Hilton Garden Inn does not qualify, etc.)
- States that reservation must be made at hilton.com, via the Hilton Honors app, or by calling reservations for Hilton or through curiocollection.com, via the app, or calling.
Quick Thoughts
This one can by synced via Twitter with #AmexHltnCurio. I received it on my Membership Rewards-earning business cards. This is a nice offer to combine with other current Hilton promotions. If you could find a 2-night stay for around $300 and combine it with the Amex Platinum promotion covered in that linked post, a Gold member could earn 14,250 points (22.5 x $300) for a net $240. See that previous post for information on those promotions. That’s doing the math before tax of course — remember that to trigger the Amex Offer, you only need to spend $300 with tax included (the room rate itself could be a bit cheaper). The downside is that you miss out on the 12x points per $1 that you could be earning if you paid with the Amex Hilton Honors Surpass card (offer expired) (or 10X with the Citi Hilton Reserve), but the $60 statement credit eclipses the value of the points if your stay is in the vicinity of $300. Note that the terms state that you must book directly with Hilton. In practice, this means that bookings through online travel agencies such as Priceline, Expedia, etc will not trigger this offer. However, based on my past experience, bookings made through services like Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts (and I imagine the same is true for Virtuoso) do usually trigger the Amex Offer (as you usually pay the hotel directly in those cases). YMMV. Finally — keep in mind that this offer is only good at properties in the US and US Territories.
Final Thoughts
These are a couple of strong Amex Offers that could be worthwhile if you need to make a furniture purpose or stay at a Hilton property. It’s great to see Amex continue to pump out some valuable Membership Rewards offers, a trend I hope new cardmembers will see continue.

Staying at an HGV property in Hawaii right, and was going to ask the front desk if they could move $300 of the pending charge to today, but I see the exclusion list is ridiculous; no HGV. Oh well.
