There’s a new Amex Offer available for Luxury Escapes. I’d not heard of this website before, but it looks like there are some decent savings available with this offer, especially if you don’t have elite status with a hotel you’d be booking through the site (although it’s not just hotel stays they offer).
The Deal
- Spend $1,000 with Luxury Escapes & get $200 back with an Amex Offer.
Key Terms
- Expires October 22, 2023.
- Offer valid for bookings made online at US website luxuryescapes.com, by phone at 888-809-6860, or through the Luxury Escapes mobile app.
- Purchases must be made directly with Luxury Escapes in an amount totaling at least $1,000 before 10/22/2023 in order to qualify for the offer.
- Not valid for partner brands: Cudo, Deals, Treat Me, Scoopon, and Travelshoot.
- Valid only on purchases made in US dollars.
Quick Thoughts
I did a quick search to see if there was any value in this Amex Offer and based on that initial search it seems like there could be.
I checked out the pricing for the Hyatt Grand Central New York. Now, something to be aware of is that this particular Hyatt doesn’t have great reviews overall and so I don’t know that it could be classed as a “luxury escape”, but it might still make sense for some people. If you wanted to visit NYC over Christmas, a 3 night stay from December 24-27 in a One King Bed Deluxe room would cost $1,262 with Luxury Escapes which includes taxes and fees, so when taking into account the statement credit from the Amex Offer you’d be looking at a net cost of $1,062. Worth noting is that this package includes free daily breakfast and a waived destination fee, the latter of which is $39.99 + tax per night.
Also worth noting is the cancellation policy. Although it says it has a flexible cancellation policy, that’s only until November 9, so about 1.5 months before the stay. That’s better than a non-refundable rate, but not as good as a refundable policy booked via Hyatt that would let you cancel within 2 days at this property.
If you were to book a stay at this hotel directly with Hyatt over those same dates, it would cost $1,186.26 for a non-refundable rate or $1,344.51 for a flexible rate. Those rates include the destination fee, but don’t include free breakfast. Either way, both of those rates are more expensive than the net cost of a stay booked via Luxury Escapes when taking into account the Amex Offer, even ignoring the value of the free breakfast.
Something important to take into account with booking with Luxury Escapes is that they’re presumably regarded as an OTA (Online Travel Agency) by the hotel chain you’re booking with. That means you won’t earn elite night credits, receive status benefits, etc. If you don’t have status with (or aren’t trying to earn status with) that chain, that doesn’t really matter. If you have Hyatt Globalist status though and you’d be booking one of their properties via Luxury Escapes, you’d already be getting free breakfast and waived destination fees anyway if you were to book directly.
It’s not only hotel stays that are bookable with Luxury Escapes. They have tabs for flights, experiences, tours and cruises and more, so those could be worth checking out if you’re anticipating needing to spend $1,000+ on those types of travel expenses.
Luxury Escapes also sells gift cards online. I’m not sure if payment for those is processed directly, but if it is I imagine you could buy $1,000 of gift cards to trigger the statement credit. That would only be worth it though if you’re confident you’d book with them in the future but after the Amex Offer expires. Update: Randall has confirmed in the comments below that gift card purchases do count.
If taking advantage of this Luxury Escapes Amex Offer, be sure to click through from a shopping portal to earn some additional cashback – here are the current rates.
The Rakuten terms state no cashback on orders with Amex.
Thank you! I can confirm that gift card purchases work
Excellent, thanks for confirming that.
Read a DP recently, that said gift cards can only be used on packages. Haven’t bought a gift card myself.
As a frequent Maldives traveler, the Luxury Escapes packages are very advantageously priced. Split your payment into two if you have multiple AMEX cards with this offer in order to stack the savings.
