(EXPIRED) Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant anniversary statement credit offer [Targeted, YMMV]

If you have the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant credit card from American Express, keep an eye out at account anniversary as you may be targeted for an offer to get a $25 statement credit when spending $25 or more at hotels participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program. The offer currently being found my some is good for the credit after registering by 2/29 and spending by 3/31/20.

This is a nice little offer if you have it. Some are finding it in their Amex Offers, so don’t forget to read the text next to hose offers with an Amex logo.

According to the terms of this offer as is currently being reported, you’ll need to register by 2/29 and then spend $25 or more at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy after registration and before 3/31/20. That should be pretty easy as I imagine most folks who have the card will be staying at a Marriott at some point in the next couple of months.

It’s worth noting that this anniversary offer isn’t new — cardholders have been seeing it at anniversary over the past several months. However, if your anniversary has recently passed or will pass soon, this is a good reminder to keep an eye out for it.

One interesting note on this offer is that the card already comes with an annual $300 Marriott statement credit per cardmember year. If you were to spend $25 at a participating property, would it trigger both offers? If it does, don’t get too excited: Amex clawed back credit in a similar situation with Dell in the fall of 2019. In that situation, the problem was stacking a credit card benefit with an Amex offer. The Business Platinum card offers a $100 statement credit for Dell purchases twice per year (once between January and June and once between July and December). There was a simultaneous targeted Amex Offer that gave 10% back on Dell purchases (up to $1500 back). Making a Dell purchase automatically triggered both — but Amex later clawed back the 10% Amex Offer for many (or at least the portion of it that overlapped with the $100 statement credit). All that is to say to keep an eye on your statement if you do somehow get double credits on this.

While $25 isn’t huge, it’s nice to get what amounts to free money for those with the Brilliant card and a Marriott stay planned over the next couple of months.
