Quick Thoughts
Marriott has had a series of boring promotions and this one is no different. 1,500 bonus points for a two night stay isn’t terrible, but the fact that you earn that same amount on a 10 night stay is poor. If they were to award 1,500 bonus points for every two nights stayed – regardless of your length of stay – that would be a much more compelling offer.
On the positive side, you’ll earn the 1,500 points from your first stay provided it lasts at least two nights. A lot of their recent MegaBonus promotions have only offered bonus points from your second stay, so at least you’ll earn a bonus on your first stay with this promotion.
Note that although Endless Earning is open for registration now, the promotion doesn’t start until July 2, so you’re out of luck if you have any stays in the next couple of weeks.
When registering, double check that you’re actually signed up as I had to try registering a couple of times before it showed up correctly.
[…] Seeing as this offer is loaded to your card, you’ll be able to stack this offer with portal cashback (here are the latest rates for Marriott), as well as Marriott’s latest promo offering 1,500 bonus points on stays of 2+ nights. […]
[…] people — my offer is for 9,000 bonus points after 3 paid stays. This would stack with the current promotion for 1500 bonus points on stays of 2 nights or longer, but it’s probably not enough to make a difference in how I […]
Would the 1,500 bonus point be on top of the 6 points for each dollar spent that one receives if they pay using the Chase Marriott credit card?
Yes, as well as being in addition to the 10 base points per dollar you earn for stays and any bonus points you earn from status.
What if someone already booked a 2 night stay ( with points) before they registered. Would they have to cancel and rebook?
Based on the terms of the promotion, I don’t think award stays will earn the bonus points.
Do the point stays count towards this promotion ?
It doesn’t look like they do – they terms state the following:
A “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity on any points-eligible rate.
The fact that it has to be a points-eligible rate suggests that it has to be a paid night rather than award nights.
1500 points = 500 Starpoints. Yawn.
