Quick Thoughts

This is always a popular deal at Meijer as it’s effectively giving you 10% back when buying most gift card brands. Amazon is the most notable exclusion, but other high-value gift card brands like Best Buy, eBay, Home Depot and more are all eligible for this offer.

There are a few things that are worth knowing about how this type of deal works. First, it’s a rewards offer which means your Meijer mPerks account is already registered for the offer – there’s no digital coupon you need to load.

Second, it’s a reward rather than an instant discount. That means you’ll pay full price for the gift card, with Meijer then loading $5 rewards to your account depending on how much you spent.

Third, there’s a limit of 10 which means you can buy $500 worth of gift cards to get up to $50 in rewards. You don’t have to buy 10 separate $50 gift cards though – you can buy one $500 gift card if you like and you’ll still get the full $50 in rewards.

Fourth, the rewards are loaded to your account within a couple of hours of your gift card purchase. They sometimes get loaded more quickly, but Meijer will send you an email once they’re available. If you’re planning a big grocery shop, buy the gift card(s) when you first arrive, then amble around the store and the rewards will hopefully be ready by the time you come to check out.

Fifth, any partially redeemed rewards go to waste. If you’re spending $23.21, it’s best to only use four of the rewards because if you use a fifth reward then you’ll be losing out on $1.79 of its value.

Finally, the rewards expire after a couple of weeks or so, so be sure to redeem them within that time.

Am I correct in assuming that the $50 in rewards can’t be used for the purchase of other gift cards

Mike Chicago

Correct. I tried that during last sale (couple weeks ago). POS does not give the option to use the earned reward when you buy another gc.

Mike

Thank you

Jeff

I am having a hard time signing up for an account. It says no stores located within 50 miles of my zip code. I tried to google to locate the stores, thinking I could input another zip code (e.g. not where I live), but it brings me back to that same page. What happens if I sign up and I do not have a store within 50 miles of my zip code? Thoughts? Thanks.
