View from the Wing reports that a dozen new Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties became bookable with Hyatt points this spring. While Hyatt hasn’t made an official announcement about this, it looks like there are some excellent properties now in the list.
Hyatt’s partnership with SLH feels disproportionally generous to World of Hyatt members. All World of Hyatt members booking stays at SLH properties through Hyatt receive free breakfast for two, a room upgrade based on availability, and 2pm late checkout. My lone SLH stay was at the Schlosshotel Kronberg just outside of Frankfurt. It was a very unique place to stay – a former castle that was used as an officer’s club during the US occupation of Germany in World War II. The golf course was designed by Dwight Eisenhower. I was thrilled to burn 20,000 World of Hyatt points to stay in an old castle filled with history.
Gary at View from the Wing highlights the addition of a third property in Oia, Santorini, Greece. Oia at sunset is as beautiful as postcards and calendars will have you believe.
Howver, I am equally excited about the lovely-looking Category 4 property in Cape Town and while the pictures of the property seem oddly sparse, I am nonetheless interested in picking up a reason to visit Corsica (the Hotel des Gouverneurs in Bastia, France).
Whether or not these properties are any good for you will be highly situational, but it is nonetheless great to see Hyatt gain traction in areas where they have a relatively weak presence. The partnership with SLH certainly provides a lot of value.
See View from the Wing’s post for a full list of newly-added properties.
I booked Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik for July17…..I was supposed to go to Israel, but they decided not to open. Excited to finally leave the country again……
Cape town property not actually available with points on any date
Gary briefly mentions it, but definitely check the price via both SLH and the hotel’s website. The prices can sometimes be hundreds of dollars different. Almost all SLH offer breakfast to all guests and the price savings can most often easily pay for the room upgrade. The remaining cost will cover a cheap mattress run (or another useful stay), so all together you get the same benefits as booking through Hyatt while saving money. Be sure to adjust for points not earned and promos though.
One hotel I priced was $900 more. $900 dollars! $1200 through Hyatt and $300 via hotel.
Best addition for those looking for convenience is Keswick Hall. We visited back when it was owned by Laura Ashley’s husband–beautiful resort which I understand was just totally renovated. Not too bad of a drive from anyplace in the Northeast (and only 475 miles from Albany–maybe Nick can take one for the team!)
When will it reopen??? I’ve been trying to book there.
Their web site says Summer 2021.
Not open yet- called/messaged property, inquired with Hyatt. Radio silence.
