The above flyer arrived in the mail today. Amex had sent an “exclusive gift” in appreciation of my Card Membership. This was probably thanks to my having a Platinum Card. I’ve heard of others getting gifts like this, but this was a first for me.
If you see an envelope like the one above in your mail, don’t toss it out! It looks like junk mail, but it’s not.
The flyer included a code for $100 off anything at Master & Dynamic. They sell several varieties of really sweet looking headphones. I was tempted to use the code to get $100 off a $200 pair of wireless earbuds, but I already have a pair that works fine. Instead, I found wired earbuds that I could get for free…
I clicked through from a portal (just in case) and used my code to get the above headphones for free.
Nice!
I received a MacKenzie Child $100.00 gift card.(from American Express) Every time I enter
the numbers MacKenzie doesn’t accept the gift card. ????? And it is going to
expire soon. What good is giving a gift card when it doesn’t work!
I received the $100.00 for MacKenzie – Childs as well, from my personal amex platinum card
Side note- on the bottom right corner of the envelope it has AmexAppreciates_06/2019 I only recently received the card so I’m guessing they have been running the Amex Appreciates program since at least June of 2019
I received for vincero watches.
I am jealous of your offer – I only use my apple watch so this offer is not of much use to me (some wireless earbuds would have been helpful though).
I would love to know how they target these types of promotions. Is it really a token of appreciation for people who use the card a lot or do they have some sort of algorithm that makes them think you are likely to cancel the card in the near future and are using the gift as a preemptive retention bonus? Or maybe your demographics or spending patterns makes you a target market for the Master and Dynamic brand and this is a way to introduce you to it.
received this without a platinum card. I have the Bonvoy (old SPG) Bonvoy business (old spg business) and green card.
For those of you that think it’s such a crummy deal, why don’t you offer it to someone else? A friend? Or maybe there’s a reader out here that would like it. And no, I’m not asking for it.
The card does say that it is non-transferable.
Not that exclusive. I got one too!
I got $100 towards Anatomie, a luxury women’s travel clothing brand. I am a gay man but not that gay.
Best comment I’ve seen I a while. Laughed out loud.
Re-gift! Sister, mom, friend… make someone’s day.
Received $100 gift card to MacKenzie-Childs. What a joke! After spending 15 minutes scouring their website, I found *nothing* that appealed to me. What a waste!
What a crazy coincidence that a blogger gets one of these.
I got one the other day also, $100 for some overpriced housewares/furniture store in upstate NY called Mackenzie-Childs. I’m not sure for which amex card since I only hold two (both no-fee): blue business and an amex eveyday card…but I’m sure I can find a couple of overpriced teacups for under $100..
Got the same thing today and bought exactly the same item. Super easy.
I doubt that “$100” gift is worth anything near $100.
Read The article, he was able to get $89 headphones for free using the code.
They can price it as whatever they want to make you feel like you’re getting a good value, it doesn’t mean thats what it’s worth. Does anyone buy these on the open market for $89?
Understand it.
OMG good value? a) $0 b) read the reviews c) show me how you get these on the “open market” for less than $0
Normally I’d agree with you but the particular model I bought is currently listed on Amazon for $98.98. That said, there’s a similar model for $64.98 so… you can use that info to argue either way. The truth is that I don’t really care whether I’m really getting $100 in value. It’s just awesome to get something nice like this for free (and it was unexpected)
Just received my $100 in the mail. Have 5 Amex accounts, but only one is business which I have had for only 2 years. No clue from the envelope which account got the gift.
I haven’t gotten one of those yet, but i’m definitely checking my mail!
