Hyatt announced last year that it was purchasing Apple Leisure Group which owns the AMR Collection. That collection of 100+ luxury resorts will be getting integrated in the World of Hyatt program in a couple of months, but in the meantime Hyatt credit cardholders can earn 10x when paying for stays at those resorts with their Hyatt credit card.
The Deal
- Hyatt credit cardholders earn 10x total bonus points when paying for stays at AMR Collection properties.
Key Terms
- This promotion is valid only for World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers who have eligible stays at AMR Collection properties between March 7 and May 15, 2022.
- World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers can receive 10 Bonus Points total per $1 spent on their World of Hyatt Credit Card for eligible stays at AMR Collection properties during the Promotion Period, that’s 6 Extra Bonus Points on top of the 4 Bonus Points you earn on Hyatt purchases with your credit card.
- Eligible stays must be booked through amrcollection.com, the AMR Collection mobile app, or by calling 1-800-597-4761.
- To qualify, credit card account must be open at the time of fulfillment and the entire transaction must be completed during the Promotion Period.
- Please allow 2 weeks after your statement closes for your Bonus Points to appear in your World of Hyatt account.
- AMR Collection properties do not participate in World of Hyatt and the standard World of Hyatt member benefits including earning 5 Base Points per $1 spent, tier benefits, Tier-Qualifying nights, and any in-hotel benefits do not apply at AMR Collection properties.
Quick Thoughts
The AMR Collection will be a great enhancement to the World of Hyatt program once it’s fully integrated as many of the resorts look stunning. The AMR Collection includes the following brands:
- Secrets Resorts & Spas
- Dreams Resorts & Spas
- Breathless Resorts & Spas
- Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts
- Alua Hotels & Resorts
- Sunscape Resorts & Spas
Once the AMR Collection is fully integrated you’ll be able to earn and redeem points on stays at the resorts, receive status benefits, etc. For now though, that’s not the case which is worth taking into account if booking a paid stay to take advantage of this promotion.
You therefore won’t receive 5x base points, bonus points for having status, elite benefits, etc. The 10x bonus points therefore come entirely from having a Hyatt credit card – 4x bonus points as standard for it being part of Hyatt (albeit not fully yet) and another 6x bonus points from this new promotion.
That could amount to a good number of bonus points seeing as the AMR Collection consists of all-inclusive resorts which means they don’t come particularly cheap. For example, a week-long stay at the Secrets Papagayo Costa Rica Resort & Spa this fall starts at almost $2,500 for a Bungalow Suite King Tropical View.
If you happen to book a stay at one of these AMR Collection resorts, be sure to take a look at all the upsell opportunities that are provided during the checkout process. I’d clicked through to see if other taxes and fees would be added to this particular stay (there weren’t any added) and there were various packages on offer. All of those came with some kind of fee, but below all of those there were some other services and packages somewhat hidden away.
In the ‘Romance Packages’ section for this particular resort there’s a ‘Newlywed & Anniversary Package’ which is free of charge. That complimentary package includes the following:
- Welcome letter
- Fresh fruit
- Bottle of sparkling wine
- Special turn down service
- Breakfast in bed one morning with Mimosas (Reservations must be made in advance with concierge)
- 15% discount on all spa treatments
That’s a fantastic set of perks considering it’s completely free, although you do have to provide evidence that you’re on your honeymoon or celebrating your anniversary:
Please request newlywed or anniversary package at time of booking. Couple will be required to present a copy of wedding invitation or marriage certificate at time of check-in. Package is subject to change without notice and is only applicable to couples staying within three months of their wedding or over their anniversary date. 15% discount on spa treatments cannot be applied to spa packages or combined with any other spa promotion or offer. This Promotion is not combinable with any other offers.
Hmm! Hyatt now has nearly 50 properties in the Canary Islands and United Airlines flies there directly from North America. All of a sudden, Hawaii seems so much farther away.
