Quick Thoughts

It’s a shame that this promotion isn’t valid at all Hyatt properties, but Hyatt Place and Hyatt House in particular make up a large proportion of Hyatt’s portfolio, so it’s a more useful promotion for many members than if it only included brands with fewer locations like Park Hyatt.

If you stay exactly three nights at eligible properties during the promo period, you’ll earn an average of 1,000 bonus points per night. For five nights it’s an average of 1,600 bonus points per night, while if staying eight nights it’s an average of 2,000 bonus points per night. That’s a pretty good return, especially considering Hyatt Place, Hyatt House and Hyatt Studios properties can often be booked for reasonable cash rates.

Note that award stays count too, so this could potentially be worth a mattress run. If you have a category 1 property near you which has eight nights of off-peak award availability during the promo dates, your net cost would be 12,000 points or an average of only 1,500 points per night (3,500 * 8 – 16,000 = 12,000).

It could potentially get even better than that. At both the 20 and 30 night Milestone Rewards levels, one of the options is a 2K Next Stay Award which awards 2,000 bonus points after your next stay at, among other brands, Hyatt Place, Hyatt House and Hyatt Studios properties within 180 days of selecting that reward. If you’re at, say, 24 elite night credits for the year and you’ve already selected a 2K Next Stay Award, a six night stay would get you to 30 nights where you could pick another of those awards. Staying two more nights would max out the earnings from this promotion, while also netting you 4,000 bonus points from the 2K Next Stay Awards. That could therefore reduce the net cost down to 8,000 points, or a cost of only 1,000 points per night. Now, to be fair, the likelihood that everything would fall into place quite that nicely is unlikely, but it does show some ways that your net cost could be lowered which could be particularly handy if you are wanting to mattress run this promo.

This promo screams mattress run in Europe…….

Good promotion for Hyatt loyalists if you need lodging where these usually unremarkable hotels are located. Does anyone understand the rationale for Hyatt promoting these mid-level properties in summer?

You mention mattress-running, and I could certainly see the value of that for off-peak Cat. 1 properties that, without the bonus, only cost 3500 points. This could be a boost for folks struggling to get to 60 nights for Globalist.Would a remote app check-in work, or would you actually have to show up at the property and open the door to get the stay credits? I assume showing up on-time for your reservation and leaving early would generally work.

Current stay June 8, check out June 13, 5 nights. Do first 2 nights NOT count, and last 3 nights DO count? Or all 5 nights count or 0 nights count? Terms and Conditions are not clear.

The FAQs suggest you will get credit for June 10-13 but not June 8-9.
