I don’t understand how you can use an amex through visa checkout. When I try to add my card, the security code space is only for 3 digits and amex cards have a 4 digit security code. Therefore, it will not let me registered the amex with visa checkout.
Start inputting the card numbers and it recognizes that you are using an AMEX card. Then it switches to 4 digit security code
tried that, didn’t work.
Are you using Chrome on a MacOS? If so try the same with Safari. That had worked in the past for me.

Looks like it can’t be used for any gift card. Tried Gap GC:
