Possible free $15 in Walmart cash for Walmart+ subscribers

18

Many readers likely subscribe to Walmart+ since a few Amex cards reimburse the monthly subscription fee. If you are a Walmart+ subscriber, you’ll want to pull up your Walmart app and look for a “Rewind” (think Spotify Wrapped, but for your Walmart shopping) — if you view it until the end, you may qualify for $15 in free Walmart cash and a $15 Lyft ride credit. It took me all of 20 seconds to do this.

The Deal

  • Some Walmart+ members are being targeted for a free $15 in Walmart cash in-app. If you’re targeted, you can apply it right away at checkout.

Quick Thoughts

This was really, really easy. Stephen tells me that you need to update to the latest version of the app for this to work.

I found this deal because my wife pointed me to a Lego Duplo deal to buy as a gift. She saw this deal on Slickdeals to pay $20 for a Duplo set (already on sale) and get $16 in Walmart cash. Reading the first page of that post led me to this one, explaining that many Walmart+ subscribers have been targeted for a free $15 in Walmart cash. In the end, I used my free $15 in Walmart cash to buy the $20 Lego set (for $6.60 out of pocket after tax) and get another $16 back in Walmart cash. I was pretty happy with that!

To find this deal, you’ll want to pull up your Walmart app and scroll just a little bit until you see the yellow box below that says “Your Walmart+ 2024 Ultimate Savings Rewind is here! View now.

After clicking “View Now”, it immediately told me that if I watched to the end, I’d get both $15 in Walmart cash and $15 in Lyft credit.

It couldn’t have taken me much more than 10 seconds to read through the entire recap and claim the Walmart cash and Lyft credit.

The way I read it, I thought that the Lyft credit would be valid for 90 days, but I think that maybe you could redeem within 90 days but once you redeem it must be used within 30 days. I redeemed right away and my Lyft credit is due to expire 1/18/25. That’s actually fine as I think I’ll have a use for it by then, but it’s worth knowing if you won’t.

Again, I was able to instantly apply the $15 in Walmart cash to the purchase of a Duplo Lego set that also came with $16 in Walmart cash via an offer you have to check on the product home page (note that I had to be logged in to my Walmart+ account to see this offer).

For what it’s worth, I haven’t used my Walmart+ membership very much. I did recently order a new laptop for my wife and a couple of Christmas presents, but we don’t use the membership regularly. I think I had only used two of the benefits (free shipping and free streaming). The short story is that it doesn’t seem like this required a very active account.

I don’t know how long Walmart cash is valid — I used mine right away.

I live in a small town in Colorado and get Walmart packages faster than Amazon. Thanks for the tip to update the app.
Also, just noticed they have ebooks and audio books through Rakuten Kobo.

I’m upset, checked and updated the app, even deleted and redownloaded. Nothing. I actually used my membership multiple times this year…

Thanks for posting. I’ll take 30 free bucks. 🙂

Installed the Walmart app for the first time just now and was able to claim both offers. Have Amex Plat / Walmart+ and purchased a handful of items from Walmart this year.

Mary

Awesome. Got them both despite using the account purely for the streaming benefit. I have never made a purchase from WalMart and don’t know if I will use the $15 credit, but I will definitely use the Lyft credit!

Cool got both yesterday – but had to uodate the app first- its was perfecr timing as Wal-mart had a single.serve Kurig on clearance for $30.

I do wish the Lyft was longer than 30 days as we have a trip MLK weekend- but I have another use in mind over NYE..

How can I tell if I’ve got “the latest version of the app” – since it wasn’t there for me I actually ended up deleting the app and downloading it again, assuming it would be the latest version, but no dice on the $15 thing. Any tips would be appreciated (and maybe I’m just not targeted).

Lukas

Thanks, free money!

Read this on Dan’s site yesterday and tried it. It worked! For anyone who has AMEX Plat and is receiving free Walmart+, there is literally no downside to the free money.

fab

worked for me thank you!

Thanks for the post, Nick. That was easy money.

I did have to delete my older app and download the newest one from the App Store.

Paul

How did you get the Lyft credit? Watched the video and got the $15 Walmart credit, but no Lyft?

Paul

Nevermind. Found it.

Larry

How did you find it?

Lukas

Click Learn more at the end and you’ll see a code.

Larry

Thanks, looks like I got targeted for Walmart Cash but not the Lyft portion

After you clicked the yellow banner, if you see lyft mentioned next to Walmart cash (like the screenshot posted by Nick), you should get the lyft credit at the end. However, when I clicked the yellow banner, there is no mention of lyft credit besides $15 Walmart cash. I believe the lyft credit is targeted.
