It’s a day with all kinds of new transfer bonuses, and there’s a new promotion offering 30% bonus Avios when transferring Citi ThankYou points to Qatar Airways. This promotion might not be worth it if you need the Avios for immediate use though, as the 30% bonus points might not be awarded until mid-June.
The Deal
- Get a 30% bonus when transferring Citi ThankYou points to Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
Key Terms
- Expires May 31, 2025.
- The bonus Avios awarded will be 30% of the number of base Avios converted in a single transaction.
- The bonus Avios will be calculated per transaction and not on the cumulative sum of base Avios converted from rewards points during the campaign period.
- Bonus Avios earned as part of this campaign will be credited to a Member’s Privilege Club account by 30th June 2025.
Quick Thoughts
This transfer bonus is being offered by Qatar Airways directly, so you won’t see any mention of it when logging in to your Citi ThankYou account.
A 30% bonus is a decent offer, but be aware of a key quirk with this promotion. As I bolded in the terms above, the 30% bonus Avios might not appear in your account until June 30th. That means that if you’re needing to book an award with Qatar Airways, you’ll likely need to transfer in all the miles you need on a 1:1 basis unless you’re happy to wait up to 8 weeks (depending on when you transfer) for the bonus Avios. It might be that Qatar Airways Privilege Club will process the bonuses far sooner than June 15, but there’s no guarantee that’ll happen.

I also got the 30% bonus right away.
Another DP – transferred from Citi, both the transfer and bonus on the QR end showed up instantly.
Another data point, I got the 30% bonus ASAP! Thanks, Stephen!

Interestingly I got my bonus right away this time. Transfered two days ago and bonus was addes as well same day
Is Qatar airways showing on your citi portal? I couldn’t find Qatar Airways, I only saw BA and Iberia on mine for One World.
I transferred all of my Citi points, 169k to Qatar and I got the 30% bonus right away. I am planning on downgrading my Citi Premier card and was looking for an incentive to transfer all of my points out before doing that. There are so many uses for Avios I have no problem with doing a speculative transfer especially since I got an extra 50k.
Data Point: I just transferred 130,000 Citi TY Points to Qatar PC. When I checked the account ~10 minutes later, there were 169,000 Avios in my account. No delay on the bonus at all.
Once in the Qatar account, can both regular and bonus points be moved to BA or Iberia at a later date?
Yes, you just need to link your BA and Qatar accounts.
