Rakuten has launched a new promotion today which is offering up to 15% cashback / 15x Membership Rewards at 100+ stores.

Quick Thoughts
15% cashback or 15x Membership Rewards is an excellent rate for many of these retailers. For example, Macy’s has occasionally hit 15% with TopCashback in the past, but not with Rakuten as far as I’m aware. PetSmart, Adidas and Old Navy are some other 15%/15x highlights, but there are tons of other retailers which might be of interest.
These increased rates will pair nicely with some Amex Offers currently available. There’s one for $10 back on $60 of spend at Macy’s, $10 back on $50 spend at Omaha Steaks, $10 or $20 back on $75 or $100 of spend at PetSmart, $25 back on $125 spend at Levi’s and more. Stacking those savings with 15%/15x on the full amount you spend (pre-tax) can be a great deal, especially if you’re able to add a coupon code to the mix.
If your account is set up to earn Membership Rewards, 15x is even better than 15% cashback if you value Membership Rewards at greater than 1cpp. That makes these increased rates more lucrative, but the trade-off is that by buying items now, you might be missing out on lower prices as stores drop prices at various points for the next few weeks as a month-long Black Friday extravaganza.

Do gift cards qualify for the 15x?
In most cases, no. There is the occasional retailer though which pays out cashback on gift card purchases – likely unintentionally.
