Quick Thoughts
People have reported seeing this offer in the app for several months now, so it seems like it’s an ongoing promotion seeing as this latest round started on January 8. I’d seemingly not been targeted in the past, but when checking the app last night I noticed that the 10% discount promotion was showing for the first time.
I think the reason I’m now seeing the offer is because I added both my and my wife’s Chase Sapphire Preferred cards to the app a few weeks ago as one of that card’s benefits is a free DashPass membership. The gift card deal requires a DashPass membership which is presumably why I’d not seen the offer prior to that.
There’s a wide range of eligible gift cards for this promotion including Starbucks, PlayStation Store, Roblox, Chipotle, Lowe’s, Ulta Beauty and more. The best option for many will be the ‘Zift Zillions’ gift cards as those can be redeemed for zillions 100+ gift card brands. Purchases are limited to $200 per transaction and there’s a limit of 10, so you could buy up to $2,000 worth of discounted gift cards through this promotion.
If you’re interested in buying these gift cards on the DoorDash website, you can use the link above to get to DoorDash’s Gift Card Store. If you’d rather buy in the app, do a search in the app for ‘Gift Card Store’ and you should see that as the top search result. Be sure to check in the app or on the website that it’s displaying a 10% discount. You do need a DashPass membership for this offer, but it might be that there’s an additional layer of targeting whereby only some DashPass members see the promotion.
Chase Sapphire Preferred cards aren’t the only Chase cards that offer a free DashPass membership – Sapphire Reserve, Freedom, Slate and cobranded cards all get a free DashPass membership of varying lengths. Check out this post for more details.
There are also sometimes card-linked offers for DoorDash out there giving 5% or 10% back on your purchase. I believe these third party gift card purchases are processed by DoorDash; if so, that should trigger the statement credits from those offers. Alternatively, if these gift card purchases are indeed processed by DoorDash, it should mean that it’ll code as a dining purchase, a category that some credit cards offer bonus points for.

I don’t understand how people on DoC were getting the Zillions cards with Amazon. Only the Zillion card shown in Stephen’s picture had 10% off for me. I have DashPass. Maybe Targeted?
the zillions cards with amazon is not included in promotion

Can DoorDash cash balance be used to buy the gift cards? Sorry if I missed if you already answered the question.
I’m not sure as I haven’t tried that out. I suspect not, but it doesn’t hurt to try if you already have a balance in the app.
There are some 5% off doordash chase offers floating around
