Save $50 on $250+ Booking.com prepaid hotel booking with targeted Amex Offer

6

There’s a new Amex Offer out that’s giving $50 back when spending $250 or more on prepaid accommodation bookings on Booking.com.

Bookingdotcom Amex Offer $250 $50 prepaid hotels

The Deal

  • Spend $250+ on one or more pre-paid lodging bookings (“pay now”) online at booking.com/amexoffer and get $50 back with a targeted Amex Offer.

Key Terms

  • Expires April 4, 2026.
  • Offer valid only on pre-paid lodging bookings made online through booking.com/amexoffer, using the pre-paid option at checkout (“pay now”).
  • Excludes “pay at property” purchases. Excludes vacation packages, car rentals, flights, cruises, airport taxis, trip insurance and attractions such as activities and tours.

Quick Thoughts

Saving up to 20% on accommodation provides some nice savings, especially if you’ll be booking properties where having elite status, earning hotel points, etc. isn’t a primary consideration for you as those won’t be applicable on stays booked through Booking.com.

This could be a particularly useful offer for people looking to make reservations at properties in locations off the beaten track because Booking.com often has independent hotels and motels not otherwise bookable via other Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) like Hotels.com. For example, when driving up to Alaska via the Cariboo Highway, Stewart-Cassiar Highway, Alaska Highway, Klondike Highway, and Top of the World Highway, I found quite a few accommodation options on Booking.com that weren’t available elsewhere unless booking directly. That prevented us from needing to spend more on a quick overnight stay or having to have longer driving days to get to a different town.

Note that this Booking.com Amex Offer requires that you prepay for your stay via the ‘Pay now’ option. I imagine in many cases that’ll mean that your stay won’t be refundable, but it’s worth checking the cancellation terms just in case there are more flexible cancellation terms.

The good thing about prepaying is that it means you can take advantage of the $50 statement credit for stays that occur beyond the offer expiry date of April 4.

The terms of the offer state that you have to book via Booking.com/AmexOffer. That URL redirects to the home page with some kind of tracking ID. I’m therefore not convinced that you need to visit that specific URL, so you might be able to click through from a shopping portal in order to earn additional rewards on top of the $50 statement credit. That said, a safer option would be to go to Booking.com/AmexOffer first, then activate rewards for a shopping portal whose browser extension you have installed.

Inferior offer to the $100 off $500+ hotel stay available everyday with the Citi Strat Premier Card ($95). The latter has no fuse, no pre-pay requirement, refunds allowed. Plus Booking.com is a lousy OTA, dumping you if you need support.

What you meant to post was: Gosh, I’m being a tool.

Thanks Stephen! I was just about to book a night in Japan on Booking.com for a little over $250 when I saw this. I searched around and found the offer on P2 card.

BTW, waving at you from the Lake District.
