If you want to be on a break, Southwest is celebrating the 30th birthday of the Friends TV series by running a new sale that’s valid on both paid and award flights.
It’s giving up to 30% off the base fare for paid flights or a discount on bookings with Rapid Rewards points when using promo code FRIENDS. What’s not to like? Cash savings: good. Award flight savings: good. An excuse to make Friends references throughout this post: gooooooood.
The Deal
- Save up to 30% on Southwest base fares with promo code FRIENDS.
- Direct link to offer.
Key Terms
- Use promo code FRIENDS from 9/24-9/26/24 for travel on select flights from 10/24/24-1/31/25.
- Continental U.S. travel blacked out 11/22-11/27, 11/29-12/2, 12/20-12/23, 12/26-12/29, 1/2, 1/4-1/5, and 2/17.
- Travel to intl., HI, and PR blacked out 11/21-11/25 and 12/18-1/7.
- Travel from intl., HI, and PR blacked out 11/29-12/3 and 12/18-1/7.
Quick Thoughts
It’s worth noting that this offer gives “up to” 30% off base fares, so even if you see that there’s a discount applied when using the promo code, it might not end up being such a sizeable discount. Still, if you were wanting to book a flight with Southwest anyway then any kind of savings, like gum, would be perfection.
For example, let’s say you wanted to fly to Maine to find your lobster. You could fly from Minneapolis to Portland and get savings on several flights that day:
One of the nice things about these types of Southwest sales is that a promo code which discounts paid flights also discounts award flights. What’s a little less nice is that Southwest doesn’t have seatback screens, so I don’t know what all their seats are pointing at.
Seeing as you still get two checked bags for free with Southwest, you don’t need to see if you could be wearing any more clothes. Just please don’t take the essence of the chair when you disembark.
Don’t be bamboozled though. Although this is valid on flights through the end of January (albeit with several blackout dates), you have to use promo code FRIENDS for bookings by Thursday September 26.
God luck finding eligible dates and routes and I hope your plane isn’t missing its left phalange.
I keep getting an error one way MCO-CHI 10/24, but I give up, Spirit is fine LOL
Stephen, you look all decked out to fly United Basic Economy!
Thanks for the heads up. Seems to be extremely limited. Promo code didn’t apply to 9 out of 10 flights (not on blackout dates) I checked. But hey $8 is $8
This didn’t work on none of the flights I’m watching.
