Southwest is back with another opportunity to earn a limited-time Companion Pass. This latest offer will likely have limited appeal due to its requirements to earn it, but if you’re planning a trip to Hawaii this summer, this promotion is worth being aware of.
The Deal
- Earn a Southwest promotional Companion Pass valid October 5-November 15, 2024 when:
- Registering for this promotion
- Booking two one-way flights or one round trip flight to Hawaii by May 24, 2024 for travel June 1-July 31, 2024.

- To register for this promotion, you will need to provide your Southwest Rapid Rewards account number at the time of registration. If you do not have a Rapid Rewards account number, you may register for an account by going online to Southwest.com/rapidrewards to become a Member. Rapid Rewards accounts are free.
- Member must register for this promotion, book one round trip or two one-way qualifying Southwest flights during the Promotion Period for travel during the Travel Period, and fly during the Travel Period.
- Registration must be completed prior to booking and commencement of travel.
- Valid on new qualifying revenue flights booked during the Promotion Period for travel during the Travel Period and flown within the Travel Period.
- Member’s qualifying flight must be booked through Southwest Airlines during the Promotion Period for travel that must be completed during the Travel Period.
- Member’s Rapid Rewards account number must be entered at the time of booking.
- Member’s qualifying flight to earn a promotional Companion Pass valid for use between October 5, 2024 and November 15, 2024.
- A qualifying round trip flight for this promotion is a round trip revenue flight including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines from continental U.S. to/from Hawaii (HNL, KOA, ITO, LIH, or OGG) and back to the originating airport or carrier-recognized co-terminal flown by the same Member.
- A qualifying one-way flight for this promotion is a one-way revenue flight including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines from continental U.S. to/from Hawaii (HNL, KOA, ITO, LIH, or OGG) flown by the same Member.
- Travel booked or flown prior to registration for this promotion is not eligible for this promotional Companion Pass offer.
- Companion Pass, charter flights, reward or group travel, and Southwest Vacations packages do not qualify as round trip or two one-way revenue flights for this promotion.
- Qualifying flights(s) booked with Cash + Points will qualify as round trip or two one-way revenue flights for this promotion. Cash + Points bookings will not earn Rapid Rewards points, tier qualifying points for A-List or A-List Preferred status, or Companion Pass qualifying points.
- Changes made to any itinerary after purchase of a round trip or two one-way revenue flights may eliminate qualification for this promotion.
- The promotional Companion Pass is valid from October 5, 2024 and November 15, 2024 and allows you to designate one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) on flights purchased by you, booked through Southwest, and completed between October 5, 2024 and November 15, 2024.
- No Rapid Rewards points, or tier, or Companion Pass qualifying points will be awarded for flights taken by the Companion when flying on a promotional Companion Pass or Companion Pass reservation.
Quick Thoughts
There are some very strict terms with this offer which will make it much less appealing than their last promotional Companion Pass offer. That previous promotion was valid on all flights, but this latest offer is only valid on flights to and/or from Hawaii.
Note that you have to book by Friday May 24 and have to take your flights in June or July. The promotional Companion Pass you’ll then receive will only be valid for a period of six weeks from early October to mid-November. This opportunity will therefore only be worth taking advantage of if you were already planning a trip to Hawaii and/or would be able to get substantial value from the limited-time Companion Pass.

What a bizarre set of time restrictions – on when you can book flights, when you can fly, and when companion pass is active. I guess the companion pass window at least lines up with when kids might have Fall breaks from school.
