Stash is one of a plethora of new investing sites/apps that gives beginning investors a straightforward way to easily start a portfolio (albeit with a monthly fee of $1).  SwagBucks currently has an offer where new Stash accounts receive $10 upon enrollment and then get an additional 5,000 SwagBucks after making a minimum $5 deposit to their personal portfolio. You can then either invest the $14 (after paying the Stashpiper its $1) or transfer it back to your checking account.

SwagBucks is offering a $50 bonus for a $5 Stash deposit.

The Deal

  • Get $10 and earn 5,000 SwagBucks ($50) when you open a new Stash account and make a deposit of $5 or more to your personal portfolio.

Key Terms

  • Offer may only be redeemed once per user.
  • Must enter valid sign-up information, including your bank account, to earn SB. (nice to see you again, Plaid)
  • SwagBucks can take up to 32 days to credit to account

Quick Thoughts

I went through the entire process this morning and it took about 7 minutes from start to finish, pretty easy for a quick $60.  There are two notes about the process:

  • Stash will give you your first month free (make sure to choose the $1 option), but the terms say that points will not be awarded until 32 days after enrollment.  I would wait to cancel Stash until after the points hit SwagBucks.  It will cost you $1, but you’ll be more certain of avoiding any sort of clawback or tracking error.
  • Make sure you deposit the $5 into your portfolio, NOT personal banking.  You’ll have the option to do both.

Stephen did a similar offer with Stash last year and said everything tracked and it was easy to cancel, so this seems like a modest winner.
