Target: 10% off up to $500 in gift cards on December 6-7

2

Target’s annual gift card promotion offering 10% off $500 in Target gift cards will be coming this Saturday (12/6/25) and Sunday (12/7/25), both online and in-store. These can obviously be worthwhile both for personal use and potentially for reselling, though we always caution folks who are tempted to try to exceed the limit. (h/t: DOC)

Quick Thoughts

Target runs this deal every year, and regular Target shoppers always get excited about the chance to save up to $50. You can load these gift cards to your Target wallet and use them on your phone to pay in-store, making them easy to use over time. Many people will find this worthwhile for personal use, particularly those who shop regularly at Target and/or are trying to, ahem, hit the target for minimum spend on a new credit card welcome offer. Note that you’ll need to load the coupon to Target Circle before buying the gift cards.

If you don’t shop at Target regularly, this could still be useful depending on your resale avenues. I wouldn’t expect to turn much of a profit, but for many, the chance to break even on a decent chunk of spend is appealing.

We don’t recommend trying to game this and exceed the per-customer limit. A few years ago, there were reports of people whose gift cards were zeroed out days after the promotion, which would have been an enormous headache.

My wife Erin and my first big journey together went around the world in 100 days for our honeymoon, a trip in which I had one car accident and got one speeding ticket in every country that we visited (I think that I may still have an arrest warrant in New Zealand for an unpaid ticket, but we’ll keep that between us). We currently live in Washington State; we own a winery, ski after work and hike as much as our elderly knees will let us.
