A member of our Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook group reports receiving a targeted email offer to apply for the Hawaiian Airlines Mastercard that includes a bonus offer good for up to 85,000 miles after qualifying purchases. While this requires a bit more spend, those who are after Hawaiian miles might want to be on the lookout for this offer.

Quick Thoughts
I can’t recall having previously seen an offer for more than 85,000 bonus miles on this card. For those on the hunt for as many Hawaiian miles as possible (or as many Alaska Mileage Plan miles as possible since you can convert HawaiianMiles to Alaska miles 1:1), the chance to pick up an elevated bonus could certainly be appealing. I’d be tempted if I received the offer (after seeing this report, I went to my own HawaiianMiles account settings and realized that I was not signed up to receive emails from partners. Whoops!).
That said, this won’t appeal to everyone. The best publicly-available offer at the time of writing is for 70,000 miles after $1,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. This new offer essentially adds 15K bonus miles for an additional $3,000 in spending. That’s not a great return if you’d otherwise use that spending to earn a more valuable welcome bonus.
On the other hand, earning what essentially amounts to an extra 4 points per dollar on $3K in purchases (beyond the 3K miles you’d ordinarily earn for that spend) certainly isn’t a bad deal for someone who is looking for better rewards on some additional purchases.
Doctor of Credit has reported that it may be possible to get approved for both versions of this card. The email offer looks like it might be a different version than the one on our Best Offers page, so it may be possible to get both. I haven’t yet tried. There are numerous positive data points in the comments of that Doctor of Credit post and that has me intrigued.
The core reason that a Hawaiian card is appealing right now is because we expect that the Hawaiian cards will likely cease to be available to new cardholders at some point in the coming months (perhaps as soon as this summer, which isn’t far away). My main temptation with a Hawaiian card is the chance to get it before the Alaska and Hawaiian programs merge and we lose the chance to grab a Hawaiian bonus. I went into my account and enabled emails from partners, so I’ll be on the lookout over the coming week or two in the hopes of waking up to the 85K offer myself.

Just wanted to pass on that TPG has a link to the rumored “Preferred” bonus up on its web site already, so that is now the best offer and is the same as the inbranch offer. Hoping you guys will be able to post a link soon so we can throw some referral cash your way. You deserve it!
Great catch DSK. Would much prefer to throw some referral cheddar to FM.
Updates coming. We record our podcast on Thursday mornings, so I’m playing catch-up.
Just me, or does this post rope in summaries of all credit cards? (I.e., in case it is just me, I am scrolling through the write-ups for all cards, not just Hawaiian or Barclays. Which isn’t all bad, since the New Orleans Pelicans card had not previously been on my radar.)
It’s not just you. I think something may have happened when it was embedded in the article.
Yeah, sorry about that. Simple code mistake — my fault. It’s fixed now.
