Quick Thoughts

Over the course of the past year or so, higher cashback rates for IHG on shopping portals have often only been for select brands like Iberostar. With this latest TopCashback offer, the 12% rate is available for all IHG brands.

15.65% cashback for Best Western is a nice earning opportunity, as are some of the other deals. However, be sure to check the terms for these rates, especially for any travel site where it says you’ll earn “up to” a certain cashback rate. For example, Virgin Atlantic is up to 4.04%; that higher rate is only for departures from Boston or Dulles airport in Washington D.C.; otherwise you’re looking at 1.51% cashback.

Similarly, Expedia is up to 10%. That highest rate is only for hotel stays; other rates are $2.50 for flights and 1%-5% for other travel like rental cars and activities.

As always, compare rates for any site you’re interested in making a purchase from on Cashback Monitor or Savewise. If your travel booking isn’t urgent, it’s also worth visiting that site with the Capital One Shopping browser extension installed. You’ll often then get a targeted email within 24 hours or so with an offer giving an increased cashback rate.
