Quick Thoughts

Some of the example prices given by United include 12,000 miles one way to Mexico and some Caribbean destinations, 30,000 miles to some European and Asian cities, 35,000 miles to Tahiti, 45,000 miles to Australia and New Zealand, and more.

When United has run sales like this in the past, anecdotally it’s seemed like they’ve improved award availability. There’s no guarantee that’s the case with this sale, but if you’re a United cardholder, you have a good stash of MileagePlus miles, and have plans to travel to one or more of the eligible cities in the first few months of the year (or would be happy to travel to them even if you don’t have existing travel intentions), this award sale could be worth checking out. Just bear in mind that it’s only valid on economy travel which might not be so comfortable for some of the longer long-haul flights.
