Up to 50% back (maybe more?) at Viator via Capital One Shopping today

9

Today’s Capital One Shopping Deal of the Day is for Viator. These daily deals are typically available to everyone with a Capital One Shopping account, though the exact amount back can vary. At the time of writing, we are seeing 50% back on all of our accounts on the FM team. While we have seen activity sites stretch even higher, this is nonetheless a compelling deal if you plan to book tours, airport transfers, or other activities through Viator.

The Deal

  • Capital One Shopping’s Top Deal of the Day is for Viator. Your offer may vary, but the FM team has consistently seen email offers for 50% back today.

Key Terms

  • Elevated rate may be valid today-only (though email offers often last a few days)

Quick Thoughts

For those unfamiliar, Capital One Shopping is the public shopping portal owned by Capital One, though note that you do not need a Capital One card or account to use Capital One Shopping. Instead, you earn rewards to Capital One Shopping that can only be redeemed for gift cards to select merchants. That said, the gift card list for the past six months or more has included popular options like Marriott and Hotels.com gift cards (among many others).

It functions like any other shopping portal in that you’ll click through and make your purchase to earn your rewards. However, what’s different about Capital One Shopping is that they frequently offer increased targeted offers. In addition to offers that are highly targeted, and which vary from person to person, there is also a “Top Deal of the Day” every day, which is a specific featured merchant where I believe every user should see an elevated offer on the home page of the Capital One shopping website when logged in. If you have opted in to emails, you’ll probably also receive the offer via email, and the rate may vary between the two.

I’ve personally received four separate targeted emails from Capital One Shopping today, and all of them have advertised 50% back at Viator. When I go to the Capital One Shopping homepage, I see an offer for 45% back at Viator at the top of the website. However, I know from extensive experience that if I click through the link from the email for 50% back, the extension will pop up confirming the 50% back.

This can be a great deal for booking various tours and activities. While you can sometimes book those things for a better price directly with the provider, it’s hard to beat 50% back, particularly on some more expensive activities like boat charters, hot air balloon rides, and private tours.

I’m also seeing lots of other targeted travel-related merchants in emails from Capital One Shopping today, in addition to 50% back at Viator. Some examples here:

I’ve used the Viator offers to book private airport transfers a few times with success. Note that many travel-related offers initially track as “ineligible” at first, but my Viator bookings have in the past shown up as “pending” within a day or two of booking, making it easy to verify that these have tracked correctly (but obviously don’t expect purchases to be credited until after travel is completed). I’ve got some travel plans in Europe this summer with family, and I may book some airport transfers today for those trips.

Capital One Shopping has really been on fire with targeted offers lately. Just yesterday, I bought T-Mobile Home Internet for a relative to try out for a couple of months because I got a targeted email offer for $600 back. I ordered last night, and it showed up pending this morning in my Capital One Shopping account. An above average number of readers report problems with Capital One Shopping, but my experiences continue to be largely positive.

Fyi – my Venture X has a 25x offer for Viator.

Thanks, Nick. I got the email this morning with 50% back and thought I had everything I needed booked already (with an earlier 50% back promo). But then you mentioned airport transfers, so I checked and… viola! I just never noticed them before.

I am having a hard time for anything to Track with Capital One Shopping. Half of the times, purchases don’t track and have had to return stuff as the decision of purchase was made considering the cashback amounts. I would stay with Rakuten with the gaurantee of the purchases tracking quickly

Capital One Offers (log in to your Cap One account to see) is showing 25x for my account. Used both the COO 25x and COS 50% for my airport transfer that I booked today.

Cybil

mine has 25%

C2CMom

Mine is showing 45% back, but I’m still happy with that.
